Hello all,

I am Sharon. I am a Medical Doctor.I just thought of giving a few tips for creating incredible apps using App Inventor 2.

A few words about my App

My app is intended to help Deaf individuals by live voice recognition. I thought of adding a lot more cool features and added Yandex translation of the captured words,Auto voice recognition mode, Themes, font resizer, Speech to Notes tool, Vibrating Alarm and a Security tool that vibrates on hearing loud sounds. The app is named Let Me Hear Again.

It is created as an innovative way to rehabilitate Deaf individuals at the lowest cost, especially in developing countries. The app has been recognized by World Federation of Deaf,Association of Late Deafened Adults in US, British Deaf Association, Singapore Federation of Deaf and New Zealand Association of Deaf.
Above all else, it has won the 'App of the Month' contest here in App Inventor for the month of August.

Initially the app was free and later on I decided to make it Freemium, where a Free and PRO version are available. The PRO version costs $2 and the money obtained from its sale are used for promotion of the app among the Deaf communities in developing Nations.

Currently it has a steady 25/day download rate with a total download of 2000 within the last 2 months of its launch in Play Store. It has a rating of 4.5 from 47 reviews.

Tips for App Development

1. Think of a unique app idea. Kick-start your creativity and develop it into an interesting project.Think of its usefulness in the current world. There are over 1 million apps out there. Make sure that your app has the potential to stand out in the crowd. Scribble all the ideas that pop up in your mind.
2. Closely follow the best sites and videos regarding App Inventor. You will definitely get a lot of tips and tricks regarding the various issues, which you are gonna face during the development.
3. Work really hard on the project and your app will gradually sprout wings. Add beautiful backgrounds to your screens. The ideal resolution for the bg is 768x1280. But if your app has multiple screens, there can be crashes for that resolution. So reduce it further.(i use 288x480)
Add beautiful icons for your buttons. Make sure to use non copyrighted images.(Google it..there are plenty of them) Use PNG compressor Tool to reduce their size, without compromising quality.
4.Use the horizontal and vertical tables to beautifully align your icons.
5.Once your app is completed, beta test it by sending it to your friends. There will be a lot of errors and bugs. Fix them all.
6.When you are ready, start a Google merchant account ($25) and publish it in Play Store. Create some beautiful screen shots and add a short and crisp app store description.

Tips for App Promotion

1. Making your app standout in the crowd is really tough. Even if you create the next great game after Angry birds, there is no use if no one know about it.
2. Share the app store link with your friends and tell them to spread it through Social media and to give positive reviews.
3.Create a beautiful app promotion video, upload it to Youtube and add the link to Play Store. An app with a description video is more impressive and will attract more downloads.
Here is my Promotion Video
Use the free animation tools like moovly.com or powtoons.com to create your own.
4.Add a sharing component inside the app and give provision for the user to share the app download link to their friends.
5. Closely follow the feedbacks and negative reviews and fix the issues ASAP to maintain the high rating.

All the best then. Happy Inventing :)

Thankyou for the quick reply Steve :)

I just want to prove the fact that AI 2 is really powerful and can help amateur developers to create game changing apps ;)

How to create your App Promotion Video from Scratch

Creating an attractive Video is an integral part of your app promotion.

Hiring a professional animation team is too costly. They may charge from $50/min to $200.

There are a lot of awesome online tools that will help you to create cool videos.
Most of them have a drag and drop interface and easy learning curve.

The website I used was moovly.com

There are a lot of cool tutorials available in Youtube for creating Moovly videos

There are a lot of other tools similar to Moovly

It took about 3 days for me to complete my 5 min video.

Please make sure to add a non copyrighted background song to your video.(You tube has a big collection)
Never exceed the video length above 5 min or people will lose interest.
Ideal length is 1.5 to 3 min

The best thing about cool animated whiteboard videos is that, they have high probability of becoming viral.

All the best :)

Cheers,
Sharon

There is a simple trick to remove watermark.
Just complete your profile in moovly and they will reward you 30 credits. Use that while exporting your video to remove watermark.

Even if you pay for the HD and other premium features, their cost is very low(less than $10) compared to others.

Thanks for posting, Sharon.

Before discovering this post I posted a question in another thread concerning your app (How you got such great UI) and wondered if it was even possible with AI2. This post answers most if not all.

Great app. Inspirational work.

I'm very fussy about app UIs. Your app showcases how great UI can be made using AI2.

Kind Regards
Neo

Thankyou Neo and Scott...
Great UIs are possible with AI2.
The only limitation is the inability use the new hollow or white themes for the menus, lists and notification popups.

Great app and thanks for all the links!

Actually you can change the style of notifications etc to holo theme by changing it in the manifest file

Vernon...

Please do NOT double post on this forum.  The moderators have enough to do.

You have already posted this same question.  I'll leave this here this time but please don't do it again...

Also, please don't hijack a thread.  Your post has NOTHING to do with this topic...
