I have been looking at extensions for AI2 at:

http://ai2.appinventor.mit.edu/reference/other/extensions.html

when I came upon the following statement: “This requires gaining some familiarity with the App Inventor source code (located on Github)…”

Does this mean that we can get the Java source code for our App Inventor projects from Github? If so, how can we get access to this please?

You can get the Java source code for App Inventor on Github. Your projects are not stored on Github, nor are they Java code. If you'd like to see what Java code for an App Inventor project might look like, see the App Inventor Java Bridge entry in the FAQ for an experimental tool that does this.

No, what it says in that reference does not mean you can get Java source code for your Projects you create.  The 'source' code for your Projects are the aia file(s) you might download to your computer.

You ca view the Java source code for App Inventor 2 itself ..    http://appinventor.mit.edu/appinventor-sources/     and use your knowledge of that Java as a template for building an extension using Java.

Steve
