Hi there,

I've been getting a "Server error: could not load file. Please try again later!" error with one of my projects and for about 24 hours it always says the same thing, I can't open the project or export it and when I export all every file is included except the one I need.

All of my other projects are also having a "internal error has occurred, report a bug?" error. When I cancel the error the projects load but the viewer is missing, a refresh does however fix this, but this is not the case with the one project I really need.

Does anyone have any idea how I can recover this project? I'm using App inventor 2 (not the web version), I wondered if it's possible to navigate to the file and import it back in to app inventor as a new project? I'm not really sure how it works :(

Thanks!

You seem to have several issues Russ.   I need to clarify something; are you using a personal server version of AI2  or the MIT AI2 using the Internet?

1) Regarding " I'm using App inventor 2 (not the web version), I wondered if it's possible to navigate to the file and import it back in to app inventor as a new project? I'm not really sure how it works :(  "    OK, you appear to be using a personal server (not using the Internet), which one?  There should be a forum for your server; you may have to ask there for help.      It is possible to download an aia from a personal server and load it on the MIT AI2 server.    However, if you used options with the personal server that are not part of MIT AI2, parts of your app will not run (those related to the objects/tools that are unique to the personal server version).  Also for example if your aia is greater than 5Mb, it will NOT load on the MIT server.  If you need to run your project  on the MIT server, you will have to abandon use of those controls and code around them.  However, I understand the project probably will load on the MIT server (except if the aia is greater than 5M), but it probably will not run..you will have missing blocks and other issues that you will have to fix.

Regards,
Steve

Russ replied by email.... please keep the discussion in the forum, it makes it easier to reply, individual users are not always around and it is probable others can help if you post your additional questions/comments here.

i Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I'm using a personal server, I believe it's either WinStartAIServer or aiStarter (maybe), if not how do I find out?. Sorry for being so vague, I'm new to App Inventor, just using it for an assignment for uni which is due in today (4 hours ago) and can't access my project.

Where would I find the aia file for the project? I can't export it from App Inventor in any way. If I locate it could I then just import it manually back in to App Inventor on my personal server?

Thanks so much for you help!

Kind regards,

Russell

I do not know how you get the aia out of a personal server, probably the same way one does with MIT AI Inventor ...I know how to do that, it might help you:
