App Inventor Classic (the original App Inventor) will shut down 15 July 2015 (  https://groups.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/mitappinventortest/lMko5JCFa7o  ).  You will no longer be able to develop the original App Inventor Projects on MIT's server.  You need to switch to AI2.

So, please be aware there are many App Inventor Classic online courses still selling their services.  An original App Inventor online course is almost useless because of the App Inventor Classic shutdown.  You may not want to waste your money paying for such a course.  Unless a course indicates specifically it is for App Inventor 2, you may not want to invest in that course.

A free App Inventor 2 course is here http://www.appinventor.org/content/CourseInABox/Intro   A very good way to learn App Inventor is to read the free Inventor's Manual here in the AI2 free online eBook   http://www.appinventor.org/book2 ... the links are at the bottom of the Web page.  The book 'teaches' users how to program with AI2 blocks. The  aia files for the projects in the book are here:  http://www.appinventor.org/bookFiles    Non-English speakers can translate the course pages using Google Translate .  It is as easy as

1

2

3

OK, some of the translations are amusing and not totally correct, however there are lots of examples that can be followed in the figures in the text.

How to do a lot of basic things with App Inventor are described here:  http://www.appinventor.org/content/howDoYou/eventHandling  .

These are my opinions.  Enjoy learning App Inventor 2 .  Be careful selecting an App Inventor 2 course if you need more advice than provided in the free course indicated above.  Make sure it teaches App Inventor 2.

Regards,
Steve

Here is more information you can use to learn App Inventor without buying an online course:

Another free course is here:  course for Teachers in the link: http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/teaching-app-creation.html

Some more resources that will help you after you conclude the free courses.  The tutorials often discuss advanced techniques...and are in effect mini-courses.

Resources

There are more, if you know of a missed FREE resource, please post it.

You can search using the Search for topics  box next to the colorful Google at the top of this
for with your terms to find more specific techniques to improve your coding.

All of these tools can be used to learn to program App Inventor 2.    Learning how to program involves both reading, doing the tutorials and most important, experimenting and writing your own code and asking questions in this Forum.
