Setting up tablets for use in my Introduction to Computer Science course. ALL tablets paired and were able to run as a companion over the weekend--Admin account on computer and on tablet. When attempting to pair in class, some students were able to connect and others were not. All are using the same wifi (specially set up for our class). Originally, students who were unable to connect were getting Error 1130, but wifi connection was checked and both computer and tablet were on same wifi network. This AM, as I am connected as a student, when I try to connect is is saying Companion Connection Error, although I have no problems connecting from admin to admin logins. Not sure that is the issue since some students successfully paired.

Companion is running 2.35 which was downloaded from the Play Store. We are using Samsung Tab S, and I have downloaded the USB Drivers.

I have tried everything listed in the forums that seemed to fit my situation, yet am still having problems. Any suggestions are welcome!

Thank you.

How many students are using this network at one time.  You indicated all are connected to the same WIFI?      The inability to connect could be a limitation of your school network to support as many students as you have at one time using WIFI.  Are you using a WIFI hub or can the network router handle all these users? Network hubs I am aware of limit the number of logins.

When you say "ALL tablets paired"  does that mean they are able to connect to the network via WIFI or something else?

You probably have read the advice here
I post it to ensure that you or your IT support has read it.  It appears the student PCs are not locked down, that is they all have Admin privileges.   Is that true?

When they connect, some get Error 1130 ; that is an error indicating there is no WIFI connection.  Where do they see that?

Some connection errors could occur if there are issues with an individual's Project.  Are all the students using code that is free from coding errors and is this the same Project on all the Samsung devices?

Your statement  "Companion Connection Error, although I have no problems connecting from admin to admin logins" may say a lot and point to an issue related to the PCs not having Admin privileges.    A firewall might be blocking ports 8001 and 8004 ..  You said "some students successfully paired." ...could these be the students who logged in first?  What do these students have in common?

Companion 2.35 is what everyone should be using..that is good.   You downloaded the USB drivers.   OK but you say you are connected using WIFI  ...a user cannot be using WIFI and USB simultaneously and if they are using USB the  Settings in that device must be set to allow   USB debugging .   I do not remember but I think if a device that has USB debugging checked has to have the box unchecked box to use WIFI again..

Steve
