Can anyone point me to a working URL for downloading App Inventor 2 Emulator for Mac?  This link is dead: http://128.52.184.65/AppInventor_Setup_v_2.3.dmg

I am either
a) not the only one
b) staggeringly devoid of common sense

Both and A and B could be true at the same time.  :)

MIT had winter storm damage several days ago.  The server that maintains the aiStarter software is still presently down.
They are trying to restore service.  Try again later to day or tomorrow.

The server should be back up now. We are looking into why it failed to come back up when power returned.

Evan

@SteveJG, now I get the attached browser error message whenever I try to get the Emulator to "connect with code".  i get this on a Macbook Pro Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 and I also get it on a Macbook Air OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, same error message at same time.  any suggestions?

You have the High Sierra OS on your Mac.   Unfortunately, the emulator does not work with High Sierra.  MIT has been trying for a long time to get it to respond properly.  Apple made some changes that make it incredibly difficult to get the emulator to work with High Sierra.  MIT still have no solution.   That explains the issue on High Sierra.

W.r.t. your other beast (I have a friendly Microsoft Win 10 PC) I expect you may not have done a Hard Reset before attempting to use the emulator and may not have updated the emulator to Companion 2.46.  A guess, I am not a Mac person.  You say "whenever I try to get the Emulator to "connect with code". "  ... you should not be doing that using the emulator, you should  Connect > Emulator   (at least that is how it is done with a PC).
