I noticed a couple of old messages about looping an MP3. The problem was that there seems to be a small pause when the loop is being repeated.

That pause is not a fault of App Inventor. What happens if you make an MP3 is that a tiny bit of space (as a result of the coding) is being placed at the begin of the sound file. Not much, I think it is about 3/100 second, but you will hear it. That's why I used ogg files in my slide puzzles. In the background you hear a soundscape that is being looped. You will not hear any gap: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_vurniks.HorsePuzzle

You can test the difference between an MP3 and OGG by making a wave in a wave editor and save it as an MP3 and an OGG file. Then load the MP3 in your wave editor. As you will notice the MP3 will be a bit longer then the wave. Look at the beginning of the MP3 in your editor and you'll see why. Load the OGG and it will be exactly the same as the original wave.
