Is there a way to download the source code App Inventor creates?

I've been playing with App Inventor for a few hours and love the concept! Is there a way we can download the source code it creates from our blocks and layouts?

No... You cannot access your project's source code.  You can make a backup copy of your project though:

To Export Your Project to an AIA file...

1. Click on the My Projects link at the top of the UI:
2. When the list of projects shows up, put a check mark by the project you want to export
3. Then click on the Project link (notice that they're similarly named but not the same)
4. Choose Export selected project (.aia) to my computer...

That's it.  The file will be saved where all of your other downloads are saved, and it will have the format YourProjectName.aia!

Many thanks! It's a bummer that you can't get the source but I suppose this is the next best thing!

App Inventor is an OpenSource project.   Get the AI2 source code here (not the Project source)  http://appinventor.mit.edu/appinventor-sources/

If you rename the aia file to zip, you can open it.  Mine shows the following ( the [_] represents a folder:

[_] assets

  |_ {objects used such as images, etc}

[_] src

  |_ [_] appinventor

  |        |_ [_] {appinventor account name}

  |              |__ [_] {project name}

  |                      |__ {3 objects of each screen}

[_] youngandroidproject

  |__ ≡ project.properties

I'm not sure how far this will get you.  If anyone can further this into something more useful, please share.
