Need to open multiple emulators to test no-texting-while-driving app. But when I ran run-emulator on Mac (macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6), no emulator was open. It said:

"ERROR: There's another emulator instance running with the current AVD 'App_Inventor'. Exiting...". I did not have this problem on Windows OS or older macOS. Thanks.

This appears to be a result of changes made my Apple.  It is not an App Inventor 2 issue. Either use a different version of Mac or a PC to try this.  You are attempting this using the basic Android emulator that is used with App Inventor or are you using an 'outside' emulator?

Were you ever able to test the no texting while driving app Meimei using earlier versions of Mac as you describe?    My understanding is the no texting... app does not work in an emulator at
all since Google changed how GoogleVoice works.  You have to compile it onto a real Android device .    You might be able to send a text using the example app  to your phone number to test the app.
Did you try that?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I was able to use multiple emulators to test the app on PC or the earlier versions of Mac. GoogleVoice did cause problems sometimes. I tried not to use GoogleVoice.

I was able to test it on Android phones, but it was very convenient when we could test it using emulators.

Best,

Meimei
