Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble with the Android Emulator that comes with App Inventor 2. I can start the emulator by choosing the emulator option on the connect menu, and it starts up okay and loads the MIT AI2 Companion app just fine, however it won't connect with the workspace I have running in the browser. I've tried both Safari and Chrome to no avail. It just gets stuck on these screens:

And then after some time the browser will give up:

I've looked at the link it gives me above and I've tried the things it tells me to, like Hard Reset and Reinstall. Still no luck. Most of those instructions pertain to Windows computers anyway. Also, I am aware that the AI Companion app is out of date, but this is the most recent version on MIT's website for Mac OS X. I am actually able to update to the latest version of the app by downloading the .apk from MIT's website, however this made no difference. I still couldn't get it to connect. I'd also like to point out that the last time MIT released an update to the emulator was in April of 2015, according to the directory containing the installer. I am running OS 10.11.1 on a 21.5" iMac, late 2013. There is no reason that it shouldn't be able to run the emulator.

Does anyone else have similar issues or have a suggestion to resolve this issue? It would be easiest if I could get the AI2 emulator working because I have multiple computers and multiple network accounts, and this is the only emulator that I don't have to manually install/configure.

Thanks,

Try  Connect > Hard Reset  .  Then, follow the popup directions.   You are attempting to use an outdated version of Companion.   Hard Reset should correct this to version 2.35.  The emulator you have is correct, however it comes with  a 'place holder' Companion file (version 2.11).   MIT frequently updates Companion so Companion must be updated, usually this happens almost automatically, but if it does not update automatically, the Hard Reset is required.

Steve
