I was just wondering about the plausibility of building an Android launcher in app inventor 2. I mean, technically all of the functions are there. The activity starter to launch apps, a TinyDB to save the apps on your phone, another TinyDB for wallpapers. Plus any other functions that might be considered standard for launchers. The real issue is (a) the annoying title bar that is there as a splash screen every time you launch the app and (b)setting the app to show up on startup. Is there any viable way to do this either in AI2 or through programming? Also you'd need to have access to all the apps on the phone. Plausible?

a TinyDB to save the apps on your phone, another TinyDB for wallpapers.

(a) the annoying title bar
you can hide the title bar, see the title bar property in Screen1

(b)setting the app to show up on startup
this unfortunately is not possible

Also you'd need to have access to all the apps on the phone
this could be done in an extension
you could write your own extension and create a block yourself...

more information about how to create an extension see here https://groups.google.com/d/msg/mitappinventortest/Ip2AX036d0U/5NJlAEbFCgAJ
however that will be more advanced and will require some Java skills...
