Network Error Communicating with Companion.
Try restarting the Companion and reconnecting

This message appears when i try to connect to companion. i have never had a problem before now.
i have the ai2 version nb133 update 18th may and companion app is version 2.18ai2zx1. both connected on same home wifi network.
i have shutdown both comp and phone(companion) rebooted ensured network is the same on both tried repeated attempts resetting connection and app and still the same error.
i have tried without windows firewall - no difference
the companion app gives my router IP address but its 1 digit incorrect to the address i get when looking at ipconfig etc
any ideas??

Have you tried the suggestions here  http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/ai2/connection-help.html ?    These help most people.   If they do not help you solve your connection issue; please return here and let
us know.   You appear to have the correct Companion.

Can you use the emulator?    Knowing this may help us isolate this possible issue.  The emulator may work while your WIFI or USB does not.   Let us know please.

Regards,
Steve

Thanks. It did start working after about 4 hours of trying and multiple attempts probably 20 ish. Eventually I shut down all three devices computer, phone and wireless router (Inc disconnect phn cable), then plugged in and powered up router first, allowed to engauge connection then on with computer and phone. This worked first attempt. I'm no computer wiz but my hunch is that ai2 was not talking to the router properly after the update on 18 May (i hadn't used since before then)
All in all ai2 is brilliant like many I'm enjoying it big time. Keep going! Many thanks. Andy.

Thanks for letting us know you are coding again and your solution.   Sometimes shutting everything down and restarting clears the systems and things return to normal.
