I have a presentation coming up that has me using my app wired via a android on hdmi to a projector/TV. As a backup, I am using a Chromebook that can run android apps (the newer, more expensive ones can do this). When I started the companion app on the Chromebook, then tried to connect to it by entering the code provided by my browser on a windows machine, I received a connection error message. I've noticed at the bottom of the app, it lists my ip address as a bunch of 0's.

How can I get the app reliably working on the chromebook? I tried installing the apk but have to go into developer mode (which wipes the chromebook) to install it.

Hi Parker,

If your Chromebook is one of these, you can run Android apps natively if you upgrade the storage system. This does not require putting your Chromebook into developer mode. However, your mileage may vary. We think that in some cases the Android app is run in a sandbox that prevents it from getting the external IP for the device, hence why you would see 0.0.0.0 as the IP address. Officially, we do not yet support running the companion on Chromebooks, but it is something we are investigating.

Regards,
Evan
