I installed Appinventor last year and the feedback I got from teachers is that it was working. On my test workstation (W7), I installed it 2 days ago after reports that it wasn't working. After updating the emulator it worked without a problem I went to test a class workstation and I was getting a blank white screen on the emulator following an error message which read "Activity MITA12 Companion (in application MIT A12 is not responding) and the options of either Force Close or Wait. Yesterday I went back to my test workstation and it has the same message. On my test workstation I also had an error message about Google Framework, but that has now vanished. Our firewall settings hasn't changed so I'm puzzled as to why it's stopped working.

I don't know Bill.  There are several possibilities.  App Inventor 2 was up-graded the evening of Feb 11.   That means that  Companion needs to be upgraded.  The splash screen on AI2 gave notice but some users evidently did not read the notice.

The 'blank white screen' is the way version nr140 starts on the device or emulator during development.  The previous versions initially displayed "ghost" buttons.  When you see the white screen, the user has to wait, possibly no longer than a minute or so, while the screen graphics are deployed to the emulator or device.   If the user did not follow the initial messages to install the new Companion; the white screen persists.

Try this:    Projects > Hard Reset; then follow the instructions on the pop up that should display exactly .. take your time and read every step. This should set Companion to the latest version which is now 2.24.

Did you get the emulator running properly?  Sometimes it requires on some hardware to re-boot the pc and/or restart the browser; then load a project.

Other issues are possible...if the project you load has coding errors, if it's aia is larger than 5Mb or there are more then ten screens in the project etc. the emulator will also balk...however try the above, let us know what happens and if still no success, post again.

Regards,
Steve
