Our POS has been recently shutting off. I have no tech support (they won't call me back or answer emails) and I do not have much knowledge on tech vocab and terms. In my futile attempt to fix it, I made the master terminal the fileserver. I turned off all 3 terminals using the power button on the bottom, and reset my BOH computer. After the BOH computer came up to the desktop, I turned on terminals and then reset each terminal on screen (start>all programs>aloha>reset terminal). Once all terminals were reset, I turned off the BOH computer. Then, I turned off all terminals. Left all off for 2 minutes, then turned on BOH, then terminals. They all worked, the only difference was that there was a red border on all terminal screens. We have been having the POS shut down about every two days, then good for a day or so, then shut down two days. It is now on its two bad days. Lately, the reset procedure that I had just mentioned has not worked. But oddly, about 4 hours after shut down, the terminals start working again.

Before auth.conf existed, fileserver.conf could use allow and deny directives to control which nodes can access various files. This feature is now deprecated, and will be removed in a future release of Puppet.

Clear the fileserver cache from VCS fileserver backends (git, hg, svn). Executing this runner with no arguments willclear the cache for all enabled VCS fileserver backends, but thiscan be narrowed using the backend argument.

The Salt fileserver caches the files/directories/symlinks for eachfileserver backend and environment as they are requested. This is done tohelp the fileserver scale better. Without this caching, whenhundreds/thousands of minions simultaneously ask the master what files areavailable, this would cause the master's CPU load to spike as it obtainsthe same information separately for each minion.

Similar to the saltenv parameter, this argument will restrict thecache clearing to specific fileserver backends (the default behavior isto clear from all enabled fileserver backends). This list can be passedeither as a comma-separated string, or a Python list.

Clear the fileserver update lock from VCS fileserver backends (git, hg, svn). This should only need to be done if a fileserverupdate was interrupted and a remote is not updating (generating a warningin the Master's log file). Executing this runner with no arguments willremove all update locks from all enabled VCS fileserver backends, but thiscan be narrowed by using the following arguments:

Narrow fileserver backends to a subset of the enabled ones. If allpassed backends start with a minus sign (-), then these backendswill be excluded from the enabled backends. However, if there is a mixof backends with and without a minus sign (ex:backend=-roots,git) then the ones starting with a minus sign willbe disregarded.

Recently I've become very interested in setting up a fileserver, mostly for home usage but also because of the fact that I live in 2 places, I need to be able to access my files from both homes. I have already done some research into this but I am unclear about some things.

Question 2: How would I actually share the folders on the fileserver so that I can access them on my other computers? I've researched into Samba but I'm uncertain if it needs to be run on a Linux OS. I know that the clients connecting to it can be Windows for example but can the Samba "server" be run on Windows? Also it appears that Samba shares a folder, meaning it works like Dropbox - I don't want that. So how would I share a folder in that case to make it work like I want it to?

We have 2 datacenters (LAN and SAN connected between them), one with HP Blade and HP 3PAR Storage and another one with Dell Blade and Dell Compellent Storage. Using Windows 2016 Stretched Cluster we plan to use these 2 blade/storage kits in separate datacenters, using VMware clusters on both, hosting two fileserver VM nodes on HP side, two fileserver VM nodes on Dell side.

We are migrating lot's of Indesign files to other fileservers. In this case the links inside will all change. To prevent changing them one by one in Indesign i am looking for a solution to change the links to the new fileserver location in batches. Does someone have a solution for this scenario? Probably the best solution will be something without using Indesign itself. So scripting will be fine (Microsoft enviroment). Can't imagine some companies haven't been migrating the past years to new fileservers etc without changing the paths....

4. Make note of the server name listed in the DnsName and UncName columns. The format should be fileserver.ev.local and \\fileserver respectively.

  • Error "Unable to find servers in CMS and cluster @ with kind fileserver and service FileStoreV2. All such servers could be down or disabled by the administrator (FWM 01014)" when trying to upload PDF file in BI Launchpad.
  • The above error also occurs when using Promotion Management, after clicking 'Promote'.
Note: This error is not limited to the above scenarios - the error is generic and can occur with a variety of different scenarios using the FileStore. The resolution applies in all cases.

I am using BOXI3.0 installed on Tomcat & Windows Server 2003. I discover there is a high memory usage of fileserver.exe, always over 50%. After reboot the SIA, the memory usage drops back to 0. I have a regular reboot every weekend but still got that error. Anything I can check?

My host (a Moodle Partner) set up a fileserver repository (in moodledata) for me to FTP my zipped course backups...and restore from there. Seeing that folder in the file picker inspired me, so I created my own repository for site-common files.

Tomorrow morning, 28th January 2009, we have to replace a broken system harddisk on one of the group fileservers. This will cause a downtime between 07:00 and approximately 07:30.
