Hi

One of my friends ip address changes daily for some reason, and he refuses to pay extra for a static ip (which I can understand).
But it means that I have to change the ip for him every day before he can stream.
Is there any way to avoid this?
All the other friends I have, have no problems with their ip's. Only him.

Hello Jimmy,

If he uses a dynamic DNS provider and you use his (dynamic) hostname rather than an IP address, that should "just work".
There are various dynamic DNS solutions available (including ones that can be self-hosted), and any of them should work equally well.

Regards,
Jaron

"dynamic" hostname?
Not sure I understand. He had the ip "93.165.251.31" yesterday. Should I just do a "whois" lookup on it?
It shows "tdc.net" as domain.
Does that mean I should use " push://tdc.net" instead of "push://93.165.251.31" as source?

Hi,

Dynamic DNS is a service that gives you a hostname which automatically updates if the IP of the host changes. There are free providers for it and some routers even have it built in.
It's the best way to deal with a dynamic IP, since it will give you a static domain name to use in the stream source.

Best,
Marco
