Thisis an upper-intermediate unit of study in Modern Standard Chinese. Proficiency in reading will be developed through study of Chinese-language texts on a range of social and cultural topics. Speaking, listening, reading and writing will be enhanced through advanced language exercises, including composition and discussion, with due attention to the more sophisticated skills (e.g., use of appropriate registers, presenting cultural understanding, intelligent dictionary use, expressing ideas on more complex issues than at lower-intermediate level).
