Asalamualaykum!
MIST is just a few hours away, here are some very important things to keep in mind:
Rules
Dress Code: Please dress according to the Islamic
dress code. No tight or see through clothing. Hijab is part of the dress code. Also, please keep in mind that this is a professional setting so no denim,
shorts, or street clothes. Business casual is the official dress code (Slacks and Shirts). Islamic/Cultural Attire may also be worn. NO JEANS! NO JEANS! NO JEANS!
Unexcused Absence: Teams must always have a coach on-site. Competitors cannot leave the competition area without permission from a MIST coordinator. Coaches must inform us of any competitors that will be leaving, and provide a legitimate excuse. Any competitor that is found missing without reason will be penalized. (Students who are taking the SAT on Saturday must be back by no later than 2:30pm)
Inappropriate Behavior: Any inappropriate behavior whether it be vandalism, cursing, fighting, etc. will be dealt with in a serious manner. Aside from disqualification from the tournament, serious issues that occur on UH property will be jeopardizing any future MIST Tournaments from taking place. The campus is filled with security cameras and UH campus police will be alerted to deal with the situation as they see fit.
Schedule
Arrival: Please arrive between 8am and 9am at the University Center at UH on Friday morning. Check in will end at 9:15am.

Failure to attend any day of MIST without legitimate excuse will result in penalization to the competitor and team.

Competitors in any of the following competitions MUST turn their projects in on Friday morning to the Rio Grande room before 9:30am. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. Please be sure to have your MIST ID labeled clearly on the projects.

Lost and Found
If you lost anything like a watch, shorts, shirts, basketball etc. from the MIST Basketball tournament, we will be bringing it to MIST. Please stop by the ticket booth (where you check in) to obtain your lost items (They will be discarded after the tournament).
Penny Wars
Bring your spare change for Round 2 of the infamous Penny Wars...
Food
We will be providing food as many of the vendors on campus will be shut down. If you do not feel like getting your own food, there will be refreshments and snacks provided by MIST.
Intentions
Please correct your intentions before coming to MIST. You should be partaking in MIST strictly for the sake of Allah and to please him.
Please keep this hadith in mind as you prepare for MIST:
"Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended."
Jazakallah Khair,
-The MIST Texas Team
