Tom,
I am switching from a PC to a Mac.

I have followed all the instructions for installing MIST on a mac. TNT is working on my Mac fine.

I compared my settings on my pc for MIST with my Mac and they are identical.

MIST keeps giving me a generic error saying: There was an error while trying to import email.
Please check you setting and try again.

Can you help me?

Hi Nicholas,

No problem.  Let's take a look!  Could you send me a copy of your MIST log?  You can find it on your Mac under your user folder, then Library > Logs > MIST > mist.log.  (I don't have a Mac handy right now, but I think that'll do it!)

Tom

Tom,
I'm having a lot of trouble finding that file. If I go to my hard drive, then there is a folder called library, and inside that there is a folder called logs, but I do not see a file called Mist.log.

Hi Nick,
Okay, guess I'm remembering incorrectly! I'll look over it and give you more precise instructions. It may be a day or two as I'm at a conference right now. Sorry for the trouble!

Tom,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I fully understand and just let me know what I should try.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Nick,

Okay, so either I'm forgetting something obvious (I haven't used a Mac for MIST development in a while) or I possibly shipped the latest MIST Mac release with broken logging ;)  In either case, here's how we can get what I need:
  1. Open a "Terminal" application.
  2. Enter: "/Applications/MIST.app/Contents/MacOS/MIST".  MIST should pop up on your dock.
  3. Use MIST as you'd expect.  Once the error happens, copy the error from the Terminal window and paste the result in a reply email.
Thanks Nick!  Sorry for the trouble.

Tom,
I’m sorry but I am still a novice at Mac.

How do I open a Terminal Application?

Tom,
Thank you for making it so easy to do this.

Here is the text I copied from the terminal application once the error occurred.

Looks like it's a wrong username or password. Are you sure you're entering it correctly? Could you verify using another application?
