I have followed all of the directions and it is still not connecting to the server. What do I need to do?

Hi Norm,

Sorry you're having trouble!  Could you tell me a bit more about your configuration?
  • Are you using Windows or Mac?
  • What version of MIST are you using?
  • What email client do you usually use?  (Gmail, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook, etc.)
  • If I asked you to locate a particular file on your computer that may give us a clue, would you need details on how to do that, or would that be easy for you?  (That is, how tech-savvy are you?)
  Thanks!

Hi Norm,

Okay, great.  I realized that I should have asked what version of Windows.  I'll assume Windows XP, but Windows Vista and 7 aren't too different.  (I'm not very familiar with 8, but I could figure it out if need be.)

Could you attach your MIST log file?  You can find it on Windows XP by following these steps:
  1. Click your Start Menu and then Run...
  2. Enter "%APPDATA%" (without the quotes) and press OK.
  3. Then look for the folder "MIST", then "logs".  Attach the file "mist.log" (I think you should be able to drop it into Outlook) and reply to this message.  That should give me a clue as to what is happening.

Hi Norm,

Sorry you're having trouble!  Could you tell me a bit more about your configuration?

  • Are you using Windows or Mac? Windows
  • What version of MIST are you using? 3
  • What email client do you usually use?  (Gmail, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook, etc.) Outlook
  • If I asked you to locate a particular file on your computer that may give us a clue, would you need details on how to do that, or would that be easy for you?  (That is, how tech-savvy are you?) I think I am tech-savvy but tell me what file and I will tell you if I know where it is.

  Thanks!
