RALLY AT FOREST SERVICE HEADQUARTERS IN SOLIDARITY WITH NATIVE RESISTANCE IN ARIZONA

In response to a national call for actions at each of the ten regional forest service offices in the country, there will be a gathering at the Northern Regional Office in Missoula on Thursday the 25th.  The call was issued by those opposing the development on the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff, Arizona.  The peaks are held sacred by 13 different tribes in the area, yet the development (which has been hailed as extremely environmentally destructive as well as desecrating) is being pushed forward by the U.S. Forest Service who are the stewards of the land.  All though the Northern Region division does not have to power to halt this development, it does have the power to pressure the National Forest Service and the Southwest Region to honor their agreements to respect the sacred sites of indigenous peoples.

We will gather outside the Forest Service Office and present a letter demanding that the U.S. Forest Service respect Sacred Sites and protect land from damaging development.  Let's show our friends in Arizona that we stand in solidarity with their resistance, and show the U.S. forest service that this is not a regional issue, that indigenous and environmental struggles are struggles that unite us all.

There will be leaflets to pass out and a banner or two with specific messaging present, but feel free to bring your own signs or banners.  Also, please bring any information you would like to share about current issues you want to spread the word about.  Hopefully as we gather, we can use the space to give updates on many different struggles, and have conversations about what it means to build networks of solidarity between all of these issues.

WHERE:  US NORTHERN REGIONAL OFFICE, 200 EAST BROADWAY ST.
WHEN:  12 PM, THURSDAY THE 25TH OF AUGUST
