Hi Rhythm Fans,

Most of you know Ethel McDonald and many of you may have received an
urgent e-mail from her, requesting help. Please ignore these e-mails
as her account has been hacked and the messages are bogus. Ethel is
in Missoula and is fine. She is currently working to get the
situation resolved.

Wow, Dave, thanks so much for letting us know! I was just about to offer any
help I could! That will be an interesting story for her to tell! I hope you
are doing well. It has been so long since I've seen you. My saddest news is
my drum head broke. Dave M. put on a new one, and it doesn't even sound like
the same drum. I was planning to call you this weekend and whine about it and
hope you would tell me it will come around in time. What has been your
experience?
Beth

Hi Beth,

I've been thinking about you lately and thinking I should drop you a
note and say hi. Sorry to hear about your drum head. If Dave put on a
skin that was around the same thickness as the old one, it should
eventually sound more like it did. He's usually pretty good about
trying to match skins. The key is to play it (a lot!) at first and
keep retuning it.

FYI we have a good (small) group going on Thursday nights and maybe
you want to join us when school's out and you can stay up later.
Anyway, think about it.

Take Care,

Dave

Your email gives me hope that I will one day have my drum sound back. I loved
the sound so much; that's why I bought it and put up with playing a drum too
big and carrying one way too heavy. Had it sounded anything at all as it does
now, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I've thought of paying
neighbor kids to beat on it to get it broken in sooner. Matthew said it takes
him 2 months with the amount of playing he does, so I'm guessing it'll be a
year for me! It's so ringy now. Matthew himself picked out the skin knowing
how broken hearted I was, so it should be close I suppose. We will be gone the
first first week or so after school is out, but otherwise should be home most
of the summer. I'd love to join your group. I'm very much enjoying my drum
class, but I miss just drumming, and I know I always learn from you how to be
a better drummer. I almost called you awhile back to go see a scary movie, but
we ended up doing something or other, so I never made it to the movie. Now I
can't remember what it was. Maybe something else will come up, or perhaps I'll
see it in Hastings and my mind will be jogged and I'll then rent it. If that
happens, I'll be sure to call. Hope to see you soon.
Beth
