Please feel free to share links to this group so that we may build its membership. The following are some guidelines for the group that is based on those established by other birding list-serves.

The Missisquoi Birders group shares information, stories and sightings about birds and bird conservation in the Franklin County/Missisquoi River Basin area from the headwaters to Lake Champlain. Contributions should be respectful, informative, and relevant to our topic.

Please read and observe the following guidelines:

All messages to the Missisquoi Birders list should include the following:
- Your name and location (most email programs can be set to automatically append a signature block to outgoing messages)
- An informative SUBJECT line that reflects the content of your message
- In the BODY of the post include date and location of any sightings you are reporting

You are encouraged to share reports of bird sightings in Franklin County/Missisquoi River Basin and adjacent areas. For other locales use common sense. Postings in or out of this region may also be submitted to the VTBIRD list. New Hampshire and other adjacent states have their own lists.

Other topics about bird identification, optics, field guides, or events/programs are welcome and encouraged.

Please do NOT post messages about viruses or other topics unrelated to birds. All who use the Internet are responsible for staying informed and prepared to deal with viruses and virus hoaxes.

When replying to a message please make certain that your reply is addressed to the intended recipient(s). A quick look at the "To:" field should indicate if you are replying to the entire list or to the sender only.

Please be thoughtful and courteous when posting messages to the list. If you are offended by someone's contribution please take it up privately with the sender and/or the list owner.

Our guidelines were modeled after those used by VTBIRD, BIRDCHAT, MAD BIRDERS and other, established bird discussion lists.
