I am amazed that a whole year has come to an end. In this newsletter I thought I would share some highlights of the past year. As we’re now in the Christmas season where we take time to think back over the year, I am still awe struck by the fact that I get to serve in South Africa. I wanted to take a moment to share with each of you what I have had the chance to do this year because of your prayer and financial partnership of my ministry at Living Hope.
*Afternoon Children’s Clubs this year have really become something I have enjoyed being a part of. We have been diligent in teaching the children about who God is and how much he loves them. The Life Skill Educators have done a great job of teaching the curriculum and I have enjoyed seeing how the children are growing in their faith.
*In February we opened the Living Hope Resource Center. My main responsibility with it is finding and cataloging resources. This also helps me since I’m also in charge of all supplies and resources needed for the Life Skill Educators.
*In April I started helping in our preschool tutoring program that we have in Masi. Each week we have about 25 preschoolers that attend this program. They break into small groups and work on speaking English and learning practical skills to get them ready for school. It is a real treat to watch these children grow. As the year has come to an end it’s fun to see how their English has expanded and how they are better equipped for starting school.
*On a weekly basis I train 18 Life Skill Educators as well as countless volunteers that work in our Life Skills department.

*In preparing for the World Cup I wrote two weeks of curriculum as well as conducted the training involved of all of the Life Skill Educators and volunteers. During our four weeks of World Cup programming we reached 2,304 children and teenagers.
*I have the chance to visit the afternoon clubs on a weekly basis to check to see how the curriculum is working. I have built relationships with children in all of the communities. Right after one of our holiday clubs one of girls gave her heart to Jesus. I was so excited to hear the news and remember going up to that club to find her and give her the biggest hug. She was just so happy and smiling.
*This year I have really learned how important it is to have community around you. I have been blessed to meet some amazing people and build relationships with them. As we all work together and have the same goal in mind, it is exciting to see who God brings along to join the team!
I couldn’t do all of these things if it wasn’t for the prayer and financial support I am receiving from people like you. Your support has helped to shape young lives, train Life Skill Educators to further their reach into Cape Town’s communities, and tell people of all ages and backgrounds about the love of Christ. You are having an impact here in South Africa… thank you!
I am excited to see what 2011 will hold for me and my ministry here with Living Hope. I would covet your prayers as I discern God’s leading for all he wants me to accomplish in the coming months. Can you also pray about supporting my ministry on a financial basis? I do not have a salary while I’m here in Cape Town and all contributions cover my daily living expenses. I’m blessed to have some of my needs, like housing, taken care of. The support you provide goes to things like my car which helps me to get to the surrounding communities to visit Kid’s Clubs. It also helps with my insurance, food, and other necessities.
All contributions are tax deductible. If you feel led to give, you can do so by either of the following two means:
Thank you again for your support during 2010. I’m eagerly anticipating all that God will do in the new year.
Merry Christmas!
Danielle
