Amy Leigh Cutler in Mega-Quasi-Semi-Final Slam Tuesday Night!!!

Hi all:

This is Karen Bowlby, long-time member of TGC. 

I'm sure by now you're familiar with our own Amy Leigh Cutler's poetry - it's been read at most TGC services, both by her and other members of TGC. 

You may not know, however, that Amy has spent a year being featured at different readings around the city, as well as competing in poetry slams. A 

poetry slam is a competition - and, being that NYC has some of the best poets in the nation - poets that are currently, at this moment, defining what poetry

ten years from now will look like - these slams are not easy.

So - that being said, I wanted to bring your attention to an event going on at 7pm, this Tuesday night (May 10th) at the Bowery Poetry Club (one of the most well-known and celebrated spoken-word venues in THE WORLD) on Bowery, between 2nd and 3rd. This event is the

MEGA-QUASI-SEMI-FINAL SLAM COMPETITION!!! What this means is it is the last chance for a poet to make the Bowery Poetry Club's slam-team that

will go on to represent at the National Poetry Slam Competition. Amy has made it this far, and she will be competing against seven of the best poets you will ever see...

What the heck IS a Mega-Quasi Semifinal? Well, dearests, it's one of the BIGGEST slams of the year! This is where we invite back the very highest-ranking poets of the season for one final shot at our Grand Slam Finals (which will be on SATURDAY, May 14, 2011 -- mark the date!). 

We toss the top-o-the-top poets back in the ol' ring and watch them duke it out to see who still has the chops to move up! Only a few of these poets will move on to Finals... who will it be??
