Hi Missional Arts!
ALEGRIA has had a lot going on lately and we're overdue for an update. First, thank
you so much for your continued support of ALEGRIA. None of this is
possible without your partnership on behalf of these children. Muchas gracias! Here’s the low-down...
We applied for our 501(c)3 and are now awaiting word from the IRS. This was a lengthy legal process, made much simpler by Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and EJ and David from Skadden. Please pray.
We announced our Leadership Team. This
team is a collaboration of ambassadors from NYC (TGC!) and Lima committed to
leveraging their talents on an ongoing basis. Read all about The Team
here.
We have a joy project in the orphanage next week! We
have a phenomenal team of artists from Lima mobilized to teach some
amazing creative workshops to the children during what is typically a
tough time in the Community: Mother’s Day.
We’re meeting needs in the orphanage! Your
continued generosity is allowing us to purchase much-needed industrial
sewing machines for the orphanage community. Read all about it on the
ALEGRIA blog. Please give today to support this initiative... Every little bit counts. I can’t wait to share the results of this with you. Attached is a photo of older boys learning to sew from our visit to the Community last week.
Miguel says: "We
believe in a new world - a different world. We dream that we will not be
creatures that destroy the world. That we would be creatures that build
the world. And we invite you to join us.”
Friends, please join us. Please lift all of this up to God in prayer. Please financially partner with us to support the kids. Please spread the word to friends and family far and wide.
In ALEGRIA’s improv workshop this past September, a student named Fernanda said, “We made up stories that no one had heard of before in their life and the best part is that we created them.”
I’m
so proud to say that God has given us the opportunity to be a part of creating a new story for these
kids who have incredible potential and very limited resources.
There’s
much more to catch up on on the ALEGRIA blog. It’s been such an
exciting season and I can’t wait to see what next week holds.
Love, Shay
