As you know, fundraising isn't usually my thing, but at this time every year I am moved to support a small organization called One Home Many Hopes (OHMH).
They are pioneering a new way to serve one of the neediest groups in one of the most oppressive places for young girls. OHMH has a goal of raising $291,000 in the next 3 weeks and I am helping them raise $2000 of that on my personal webpage: http://onehomemanyhopes.donorpages.com/BreakingGround2011/DavidChan
Just over $70,000 has been donated in the last week but between now and and midnight Tuesday every dollar I raise will be matched by an OHMH donor and so worth $2.
Anthony Mulongo, the original founder, is in this video outlining how they are going to use this money to change the fate of these young girls and
through them, the region: http://vimeo.com/29339839
Last year’s contributions funded a 700-child school. We need $291,000 to turn this into a state-of-the-art academy where these girls can be transformed into tomorrow’s social justice-minded leaders. This will be a facility with computer labs, a library, science labs, a medical clinic: a place where you would send your own children.
Please join me in supporting One Home Many Hopes and these girls. I have become friends with Thomas, a co-founder of OHMH, of the years, and the message he shares is urgent and inspirational. You can make a donation of any amount on my personal fundraising page: http://onehomemanyhopes.donorpages.com/BreakingGround2011/DavidChan and whatever you give before Tuesday night will be doubled.
100% of donations go straight to the building of the school. All contributions are tax deductible.
Thanks for considering helping me hit my goal.
Sincerely
