Hi! We have an intern coming next year. We'd like her to study here in
Honduras. Does anyone know of a good school here in country?
Thanks for any help you might can give.

Hi Teri,

I recommend Conversa, in Teguz, or Ixbalanque, in Copan.

Like most of these Spanish schools they use a conversational approach so
students actually start talking and acquiring language rather than just
learning grammar. I recommend immersion - 1:1 study for 3-5 hours/day, plus
home-stay - for maximum benefit.

Unfortunately trying to work with a tutor a few hours a week squeezed in
between ministry activities usually just leads to frustration. Plus I
haven't found that most tutors really understand and apply the principles of
language acquisition.

Here are some reviews of Ixbalanque

and Conversa

Are you looking for an all Spanish school or a bilingual school where
she can get accredited for her school work?

Hi! Sorry about the lack of details. We're just looking for a language
school where our fellow coworker/intern can continue her Spanish study.
She has an ok level (she interned in Venezuela a few years ago.) We
were hoping to not have to send her to Guatemala or Costa Rica but
somewhere here in country. That way she could come in on the weekends to
work at the church. She has completed her undergraduate studies so she
wouldn't need college credit.
Thanks so much!
Teri

This is the best one we have been too in Honduras. we were there for two months it is near the beach and some days you have classes on the beach. I do recommend it. but un less you like being hot i would ask for a home stay with air. there is a nice one near the school. and on weekends you can hop a farry to roatan for not too much.

We are currently IN language school in Copan Ruinas.  The school is called Guacamaya and my husband and I are both here.  It is a GREAT school and we are learning quite a bit.  We do not have a spanish background.  Each student has their own teacher.

We are also from Tegucigalpa and the drive here isn't bad at all.
