I recently learned that Stream will discontinue support for windows 7, 8.1 et al. Does this mean that CIU will also be discontinuing support for these op systems as well?
The only reason I upgraded to windows 7 was for security updates and 64bit, which my xp sp2 didnt support. I wont be touching windows 10 or higher. My next major op system will be some linux flavour, possibly with wine for the programs that wont function properly under linux.
As an aside, does CIU (pc version) run on stream?
Best Regards,
Louis

OK,
So, I run the standard version of CIU, ive been connecting to the servers, and making the odd purchase with PayPal.
So, will my version on my pc still function as it is, with me connecting to the servers, with windows 7?

Well, fine, if you insist. Chicken Invaders is the most successful chicken game of this millennium (not to mention the previous one). The game puts you at the forefront of a battle against invading intergalactic chickens, bent on revenge against the human race for our oppression of Earth chickens.

My windows vista keeps rebooting on the green bar load screen so i got Ubuntu 12.04 and installed it but i had trouble running my games and apps from vista until some guy on line told me to get wine which i did and my apps started loading but when i tried to run dawn of war dark crusade it launched but did not display in full screen (no biggie) the ubuntu side bar was still there on the side and so was the task bar (if thats what its called) at the top. But after the cut screen the loading page with all the logos appeared and the game closed ( not cool) i kept trying until I finally gave up and run chicken invaders which launched properly but had some graphic bugs on the menu then i tried to run epsxe and play final fantasy but during combat i could not see the status bar at the bottom. I dont think this is a problem with my hardware because all the run just fine on my vista. Can someone tell me how to fix this I will be grateful ( and if you know how to fix my vista issue it will be of great assistance.)

Chicken Invaders is a free space shoot-em-up game that presents a weird and whimsical spin on the classic Space Invaders. In this game, you take command of a spaceship charged with defending Earth from wave after wave of intergalactic barnyard fowl. By dodging eggs, blasting chickens and collecting drumsticks you'll battle your way through the game's limitless levels.

There isn't much to the gameplay of Chicken Invaders: it's a humorous reskin of classic shoot-em-ups, with all the features you'd expect from that. As you advance, you'll discover presents that let you upgrade your ship with new and more powerful weapons. Blast enough chickens and you'll be rewarded with drumsticks. Collecting drumsticks can earn you a powerful missile which will let you get past particularly challenging sections. Each level consists of ten waves; at the end of every ten waves, you'll fight a boss, after which you'll warp to the next level. That's it, more or less: it's a traditional arcade-style game without story, characters, or gameplay wrinkles. The added weirdness of your targets being chickens does lend the whole thing an air of bizarre humour.

The main theme of the games is a battle between a lone combat spacecraft and a technologically advanced race of space-faring chickens, who are intent on subjugating (and later destroying) Earth. The games make heavy use of humor, especially in the form of parodies of Galaxian, Star Wars, Space Invaders and Star Trek.

Chicken Invaders is the first game of the Chicken Invaders franchise, released on 24 July 1999. It is a fixed shooter, reminiscent of the original Space Invaders (of which the game is a parody of), in which the player controls a lone spacecraft by moving it horizontally across the bottom of the screen and firing at swarms of invading extraterrestrial chickens. The game features both single player and two-player game modes. Known also as the DX Edition, it is a reimagined, 3D version of an earlier, unfinished DOS version made in 1997.[citation needed]

Chicken Invaders features weapon power-ups that resemble gift boxes, used by the player to upgrade their weapons. Enemy chickens drop eggs as projectile weapons, which the player needs to avoid. When chickens are defeated, they drop drumsticks, which the player can collect to earn a missile, a special weapon used to clear the screen of enemies. The game features an infinite amount of levels. Each level features 10 waves, and at the end of each level players fight a boss, which must be defeated in order to advance (or warp) to a new system. The gameplay is endless, bringing in wave after wave, until the player has finally lost all of their lives, in which case the game is over. The difficulty increases each time players advance to a new chapter; the enemies move or fall faster, and objects like asteroids will also move faster.[citation needed]

Chicken Invaders: The Next Wave (known also as Chicken Invaders 2) is the second game in the main Chicken Invaders series, released on 22 December 2002. The player again takes command of the same lone spacecraft of the previous installment and must eliminate the chicken infestation of the Solar System. The game is considered a major improvement over its predecessor, featuring a variety of unique waves of chickens with different types of enemies and bosses, as well as allowing the player to move their ship in both the horizontal and vertical directions. It is also the first game in the franchise to introduce multiple weapons. The game departs from the "endless" format, instead featuring a final boss confrontation and an ending. As in the previous entry in the series, The Next Wave can be played by one or two players.

The Next Wave features eleven chapters, each one corresponding to a gravitationally rounded object of the Solar System. Players start the campaign moving inwards from Pluto, with the final chapter of the game taking place on the Sun, where players confront the Mother-Hen Ship. Each Chapter consists of 10 waves of attacking hostiles, resulting in a total of 110 different levels. In all the waves, chickens attack the player's ship by dropping eggs, which the player needs to avoid. Players can collect different items to help them in-game, such as new primary weapons which players earn by collecting parcels, and power-ups, which can be used to upgrade the current primary weapon. Weapons can be upgraded up to eleven levels. As in Chicken Invaders, players can collect chicken drumsticks and roasts to receive missiles, powerful weapons that can wipe out an entire wave of enemies. Incentives are given however for not using the missiles, as players may receive special bonuses (e.g. new weapons or extra firepower) if they opt to take on the wave head on.

The premise of Chicken Invaders is simple: Earth is being invaded by chickens, and your job is to shoot them before they get you. The basic mechanics will be recognizable from the classic Space Invaders, but this comical re-invention has a few new additions to the format to update it for the era of addictive games like Candy Crush Saga. The first batch of chickens you fight will be in standard Space Invaders formation, but others will be different.

As the game progresses, you will be tasked with fighting new types of enemy. These include chickens that circle a planet and are harder to hit at, along with meteors that take a lot of hits to destroy. Eventually, you will go into battle against a giant boss chicken. When you defeat him, the game will repeat from the first wave, although enemies will now be faster and stronger.

Chicken Invaders departs from more straightforward riffs on the Space Invaders formula like Galactic Beacon Brigade with its oddball sense of humor. Instead of lasers, the enemies shoot deadly eggs. When killed, the chickens drop drumsticks which you can grab for points; at times they also drop gift-wrapped presents that will power up your lasers.

Chicken Invaders 3 is an arcade game for your Windows Phone that is designed in the tradition of classic arcade games such as Space Invaders and Galaga. The key difference being that instead of battling alien space ships, you face hostile space chickens.

The storyline of Chicken Invaders 3 has intergalactic chickens invading Earth, seeking revenge for the oppression of their earthly brethren. Colonel Sanders is in big trouble! Your job is to take the fight to space and defend the planet and our ability to enjoy a bucket of extra crispy.

Once you set your game options and are sent into the game, you'll run through a series of story boards (you can advance by tapping the screen) to eventually get to the gaming screen. The layout of the gaming screen has your score and weapons status in the upper left corner. In the lower left corner are your vital stats including lives, bonus missiles, and chicken parts collected. There is a lightning bolt that I have yet to figure out what it measures.

The object of the game is simple, blast the chickens and other obstacles out of the sky. You can move your ship by one of two ways (set in the options). You can choose the drag setting where you tap, hold and drag your ship around the screen. There is also the tap setting where you tap the screen where you want your ship to move to. With the tap setting you end up dragging your finger around so I found choosing the drag setting works the best.

The chickens come at you in waves flying into the gaming field much like the aliens do in the game of Galaga. Once they line up in formation, they will begin to drop eggs. While you can blast the chickens into oblivion, you can not shoot the eggs. The challenge with the eggs is that they are a) slow moving and b) so small they often blend in with everything else that is going on. This makes them easy to forget about and easy to fly into.
