Online rental marketplace start-up Rentomojo operated by Edunetwork Pvt. Ltd and which was started in 2014, Rentomojo allows users in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Pune to rent furniture, utilities and motorbikes on a subscription basis has reported an instance of data breach which is likely to affect its 1.5 lakh subscribers. The startup firm said that it has reported this incident to the appropriate authorities and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

I have received any email from ShinyHunters that there is data breach on rentomojo and my data has been breached and now available with hackers. Please consider this complaint and any type of loss will be borne by Rentomojo brand," wrote on Twitter sharing the anxiety.
RentoMojo on Thursday, in an email to users, said its database was hacked, exposing consumer data. The company said that in some cases personally identifiable information (PII) was exposed. It assured users that the breach did not impact financial information like credit, debit card, or UPI information.
The crux of Hack-a-mojo was to give the participants an open challenge that had an open-ended solution. We wanted to see how creatively one could use code to solve a problem.

This would mean they have got past your router firewall, windows firewall and your antivirus in order to do this, and there is many ways how they could have done this.
The best thing for you to do is to physically turn your PC off and the internet router. You should then ring your service provider and ask them to rotate your IP address. Make sure your PC has a 2 step verification log in using a combination of a PIN and password, make sure your antivirus is up to date, you may even want to consider using a paid antivirus if you are using a free one, as the full version usually has better system protection built in.
if it happens more than once, you may want to call the local authorities / police as you may be targeted by a single criminal or group who want to financially benefit from you.

It only takes a small crack and hackers and the software they use will find there way in. I know this as back in 2005, all my accounts got hacked, from my MSN, to my PayPal, Myspace and more because I used a simple password for everything thinking I would never get hacked. It can happen to any of us at any time. Just keep an eye out for the signs, and act on them when you see them and you should be OK.
