I got rid of Cortana for security reasons but I just click "all apps" scroll down to "windows accessories" scroll down to "snipping tool". I would drag it to the task bar for future 1 click access. I was surprised by how much I use it.

The thing is that sometimes we need to capture the thing that "pops up" when the mouse is over it, so in that case, Snippling tool won't seem to work (because the mouse pointer is activating the Snipping tool instead of pointing at the thing to get the "pop up" item). In this case, the key PrtScn on the keyboard can capture the screen to the clipboard, except it won't capture the mouse pointer, which is sometimes wanted...

At my job, I'm stuck with the snipping tool -- not allowed to install anything else. I came up with a work-around using a special PPT file and the MS Office Picture Manager that allows me to insert mouse pointer, cursor and annotations (a la SnagIt). If anyone is interested, write to david.s.domingo (at) uscg (dot) mil.

Even, if you want to take a snap of your pop-up. There one functionality in snipping tool (it's not related with delay thing). Here you can open snipping tool first (win+R, then write 'snippingtool' press Enter, then cancel/ be out from it) after that you can make/process ahead for your pop-up. Once appear that pop-up immediately press 'Ctrl+PrtSc' keys. It should open snipping criteria for selecting the area.

I have tried deleting the Snip&Sketch entries in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository and C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. I have also tried to remove the entry in Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Extensions\ContractId\windows.appExecutionAlias\PackageId.

Hi, just asking how to get the snipping tool app location in the laptop? I am using Windows 11 and I cant seem to find snipping tool location which does not allow me to use the run application function in Power Automate Desktop.

Is there a way to disable the Snipping Tool functionality assigned to the Print Screen key in Windows 11? I would like to restore the traditional functionality where pressing Print Screen automatically captures the screen and copies it to the clipboard without opening any additional tools.

The title says it all. I customized different keyboard shortcuts. But every single shortcut config still keeps bringing up windows snipping tool. This is Windows 11. Is this a known bug? Are there any workarounds?

Meanwhile, I recommend Win+Shift+S which will open the Windows snipping tool with the cross hairs (just like the Evernote process used to have). Highlight the screen area you wish to snip. Then open the note where you want this to be captured (if it is a new note tap Ctrl+N) and tap Ctrl+V to paste the clip into the note.

With this update to Snipping Tool (version 11.2308.33.0), we are introducing Text Actions, which detects text in your captured screenshots, making it easy to copy text from any image to share with others or paste in another app. To get started, click the Text Actions button in the toolbar to show selectable text before selecting and copying text with your mouse. You can also click the Copy all text button in the toolbar or use Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C to select and copy all text using your keyboard.

With Text Actions, you can also redact sensitive information in screenshots before sharing. Select Quick Redact from the toolbar to automatically hide emails and phone numbers or select any text and select Redact Text from the right-click menu to hide the text.

Are you a Windows user looking for a highly-rated, multi-use snipping tool as an alternative to Windows Snipping Tool? Fortunately for you, there are numerous apps like Snipping Tool available with a variety of special features and services. You can find snipping tools for Windows with cloud storage, image editing tools, screen recording capabilities, and integrations with other productivity and messaging apps. Use our guide below to find the right Windows snipping tool for your needs and budget.

Windows Snipping Tool is free snipping tool software that lets you take screenshots, edit your snips, and share them with others. You can find Snipping Tool through your Windows search bar or by adding it as a shortcut. You can take rectangle snips of a specific part of your screen, a single window, or your full screen, or you can take free-form snips that can be of any shape. Screen capture can also be delayed by up to 10 seconds so you can switch to the screen you want to snip.

To use Windows Snipping Tool, simply drag your cursor over the portion of your screen that you wish to capture. Once you make your snip, the tool opens an editing screen where you can use a pen, highlighter, cropping tool, ruler, or protractor. If you have a touchscreen device, you can enable touch writing with your finger or pen. Your snip can then be saved to your computer, shared with a nearby device, or sent via email or another app.

Microsoft introduced a snip tool for Windows 10 called Snip & Sketch. Snip & Sketch contains all the same features as the new Windows Snipping Tool on Windows 11. However, Snip & Sketch is not on Windows 11. If you have Windows 10, then you can use either Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch. Keep in mind that Windows 10 Snipping Tool does not have as many features as Windows 11 Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch.

Overall, Windows Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch are good free snipping tools for users who make the occasional snip for personal reasons but poor Windows snipping tools for businesses that rely on quick and efficient screenshot editing, storage, security, and sharing to communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Droplr is a highly-rated, low-priced snipping tool for Windows that also includes screen recording and GIF creation. Droplr saves screenshots and recordings directly to the cloud and creates a short link for your snip that can be instantly shared with others. All of your snips are displayed on your online Droplr account and can be sorted using boards and tags. You can also change the privacy settings for your snips, boards, and tags to limit access. Best of all, Droplr includes enterprise-level security with encryption and SSO.

Droplr includes over a dozen integrations so that you can drop your snips directly into various messaging and productivity apps. For example, you can integrate Droplr with Intercom to drop your snips directly into a chat with a client or with Slack to share snips instantly with co-workers. You can also integrate Droplr with Photoshop if you need more snipping tool mark-up options then the arrows, emoticons, text function, pencil, highlighter, and shapes included with Droplr.

Similar to Droplr, CloudApp is a cloud-based snipping tool, screen recorder, and GIF maker. CloudApp uploads your screenshots and recordings to your personal cloud account and creates a shareable URL that you can send to grant access to them. It also includes mark-up tools such as arrows, emoticons, basic drawing tools, and blurring tools for sensitive information.

Droplr, CloudApp, and Snagit all work on Mac, and Greenshot is available for Mac as well (but at a price). Windows Snipping Tool and PicPick are Windows-only snip tools. If you would like to look at more of the best clipping tools for Mac, you can check out our article 5 Best Snipping Tools for Mac.

The Snip & Sketch tool is easier to access, share and annotate screenshots than the old Snipping Tool. It can now capture a screenshot of a window on your desktop, a surprising omission when the app was first introduced that kept us on Team Snipping Tool until recently.

The easiest way to call up Snip & Sketch is with the keyboard shortcut Windows key + Shift + S. You can also find the Snip & Sketch tool listed in the alphabetical list of apps accessed from the Start button as well as in the notification panel where it's listed as Screen snip. Or you can just search for it if you don't commit the keyboard shortcut to memory. (If you're a frequent screenshot taker, we recommend pinning the app to the taskbar.)

To capture your entire screen, tap the Print Screen (sometimes labeled PrtScn) key. Your screenshot won't be saved as a file, but it will be copied to the clipboard. You'll need to open an image editing tool (such as Microsoft Paint), paste the screenshot into the editor and save the file from there.

You can also set the PrtScn button to open the Snip & Sketch tool by going to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and toggling on Use the PrtScn button to open screen snipping under Print Screen Shortcut.

Nice. I didn't know you could even do this. I just have Snip & Sketch pinned in my taskbar. I looked for the option in settings and I can turn this on in Windows 10 now. Now, tapping print screen will start a screen capture with the snipping tool.

I've gotten very much used to now hitting the WIndows Key - Shift - S to get screenshots through the Snipping tool and for me is a welcome addition to Windows versus the print screen capturing the whole screen and then editing it in another app. Old habits are hard to change and using Snipping over Snag it or other screen capture tools is a welcome habit to change.

I been using Greenshot for a while. Fortunately, it hasn't happened to Windows 10 yet. The Snipping tool is OK, but I also prefer 3rd party tools vs built in ones. The image editor is so much better than Paint.

Thank you. Once I am force to move into the crapware called Windows 11, I will know that can go back to the normal tool. The Windows 10 Snip and Sketch crashes often and I am assuming it will be the same in Windows 11 crapware. MS does not focus on fixing things. They focus on breaking things.
