Thank you all for your continued prayers and support of our ministry.
We have much to be thankful for and praise God for his many
blessings. We stay so busy that many times I forget to take time and
update you all on what we are doing; and for that I apologize.
Eagle Pass:
The church in Eagle Pass is doing well, but there is still much work
to be done. We are currently studying through several books of the
Bible. Solid Bible teaching was lacking during previous years and one
of my main goals has been to lay a solid Biblical foundation. With
that accomplished, we have left the milk of the word and are in the
process of building upon that foundation. We are currently studying
through 1-3 John, James, Revelation, and Genesis on a weekly basis.
In a few weeks I will begin teaching Hebrews and 1-2 Peter, as we
complete 1-3 John and James. It will take a while longer to complete
Revelation and Genesis. Please pray for spiritual growth among our
members and for us to reach out to the community and win souls for the
Lord. We have baptized several this year and God has call a man into
the ministry. There are still several problems that were in existence
before I came to the church, but God is working those out slowly.
Misiones 5 Manantiales:
Nava:
Iglesia Bautista Victoria (Victory Baptist Church) is growing both
spiritually and physically, Pastor Pelayo is accomplishing a great
work. Now the church is doing exactly what a New Testament Church is
supposed to do, they are duplicating themselves and are starting a new
work in another city, completely on their own. It is a great blessing
indeed for a church planting missionary to see a church, of its own
initiative and resources, plant more churches. Praise God and to him
be all the praise and glory and honour.
Guerrero:
Iglesia Bautista El Faro (Lighthouse Baptist Church) is also doing
very well and growing both spiritually and physically. I do not
maintain direct contact with this church since I just helped to get it
started, but Br. Garza gave me an excellent report and Pastor David
has become a part of the community and they have about 60 in
attendance on a regular basis.
Survey Trip:
Yesterday, we made the first of several scheduled survey trips in
Mexico to determine where new churches need to be planted in Northern
Coahuila. As we visit the different areas, we pray and ask for God's
direction and wisdom as to where new churches are needed. We found
several areas from Piedras Negras down to Nava that are in need of a
church. There are presently four Baptist churches in Nava, but three
of them are without a pastor and those churches have experienced
splits and problems and need a lot of prayer in order to rebuild.
Additionally, there are several areas in Nava that need a church.
There are several areas in Piedras Negras that need churches and the
little community between Nava and Piedras Negras, Rio Escondido, needs
a Baptist church and a student ministry for the Technical University
in that town.
Next week I plan to start in Allende and come back up to Acuna. Once
we have determined, through God's leadership, which areas need
churches, the next step will be to pray for direction of where to
begin. Please be in prayer with us during the next several weeks.
This summer, our main goal will be literature distribution, prayer
walks, and evangelism in two or three of the areas. Then in the fall
I pray to establish home Bible studies in those areas, as the process
begins to plant and establish churches.
Please let me know if any of you might be interested in helping this
summer with distributing materials and prayer walks. Both of these
activities are vitally important to a successful church plant and we
will need help in this area. The most important thing you can do will
be continual prayer support throughout this process. I will make a
greater effort during these coming months to keep you better informed
of what we are doing so you will have a better idea of how to pray.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support throughout the years,
we are very grateful and appreciative.
