I am happy to report that the violence in this area of Mexico has
calmed down somewhat. However, at any moment it could flare back up,
as the violence continues to rage in other areas of Mexico. Please
continue to pray for Mexico and especially for the pastors and
churches.

This past weekend I traveled down to Allende, Morelos, and Palau with
some other men and we had an excellent trip. Not one time did we
notice the presence of the cartel. God sped our way and gave us an
open door. On Friday afternoon, we traveled to Morelos and unloaded
our luggage at Casa Hogar Getsemani. That evening we traveled to
Allende to participate with Iglesia Bautista Bethania, as they
celebrated their 33rd anniversary service. Dr. Gerald Cowen preached
the anniversary sermon while I interpreted the message for him into
Spanish.

We spent the night in Morelos and drove down to Palau on Saturday
morning, where we participated in a 4 hour leadership seminar, held at
Primera Iglesia Bautista, for the area pastors and church leaders.
Pastors from Nueva Rosita, Muzquiz, Nava, Allende, and other areas
traveled to be a part of the conference. This time I tag team
interpreted with Br. Stice, we split the seminar up and took turns
with the interpretation. It was a very wonderful time of fellowship
and learning with the pastors. There is a great need among the
pastor's for leadership development and I pray to work more in this
area.

Also, please be in prayer for Br. Nolan McFadden, a missionary to
Mexico. He has stayed with us a couple of times as he crosses in and
out of Mexico. He is doing a good work and providing discipleship
materials to many churches. He just arrived again last night from
Kansas and will be crossing into Mexico in the morning.

The work in Eagle Pass has been a long and slow battle, and most
certainly the past few months have been a very difficult time for us.
There were some very serious issues that we had to address and in the
process several key members left the church, as they were unwilling to
accept the truth of God's word. After the dust settled, there were
only three families left at the church, besides us. That was back in
October and they told us that we would have to shut the doors by
Christmas. However we knew that we had stood for the truth of God's
word and we stood for Jesus Christ being the head of the church. We
believed that God would provide and carry us through. To this day, all
the bills are paid, we have no church debt, the doors are still open
and we have started to see some growth.

We had to make some serious budget cuts for the new year, and times
are certainly lean, but God continues to provide. I had barely
received a part-time wage from the church as it was, but we had to
take a cut for this coming year. I am having to substitute teach, to
help make ends meet, and I'm not sure what to do for the Summer
months; but all our personal bills are paid to date. It helps that we
have no personal debt, except our mortgage. However, we moved into the
parsonage and we will soon be putting our property on the market, as
it is becoming increasingly difficult to make those payments. It would
be a great relief to be out from under that mortgage, so please pray
that God will provide a buyer for our property in Rosita Valley.

There are five men, besides myself, regularly attending a mid-week
men's Bible study. We are seeing some great spiritual growth in those
men. God has opened a door for us to have a ministry to Border Patrol
agents and it is amazing to see what God is doing in their lives and
the Christian influence they are having at work. Please pray for this
ministry to continue to grow.

Presently, it seems as though God is purposefully using us more for
discipleship training than he is for evangelism. There is such a great
need for spiritual growth and discipleship among believers. I am
trusting that we are grooming and preparing disciples that God will
use to evangelize.

We certainly appreciate all your faithful prayers and support and we
know that times are difficult everywhere. We trust you are all doing
well and contending for the faith.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his
might." Ephesians 6:10
