We are grateful for Trinity Baptist Church of Kerrville, Texas sending
a mission team. What a wonderful week. Most importantly, there were
several who accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
That is what it is all about. It seems today that some people and
mission teams are more interested in social work than in soul work.
Social works are good works so long as we use them as a means to tell
people about Jesus, otherwise they are vain.
Trinity Baptist ministered in Rio Escondido in the mornings, offering
classes for the women and children and also offering a medical
clinic. In the evenings, they ministered in the same way in Piedras
Negras, at Iglesia Bautista Bethesda (Bethesda Baptist Church).
Bethesda Baptist Church is pastored by Paulino Esquivel, the director
of the handicap home that we have supported for years. There are
several new sub-divisions that have been built around the church and
they were able to minister to these people providing a good outreach
for the church.
There was much opposition toward us concerning Rio Escondido. This is
one of the communities we surveyed and hope to establish a church at
some point this year. We asked permission from Nava county to hold
the medical clinic and also to use the public facilities for the
classes. We were denied in both cases. When we arrived in Rio
Escondido we were told by a shop owner that the community was over 90%
Catholic and that we were not welcome. We were told that even if we
found a location that few if any people would come. Despite all the
opposition, we were welcomed by a family, held our classes in their
yard and had 8 women and 20 kids attend on the first day. I was able
to meet several men and we found one family that professed to be
"Christian". We have begun to plow the field and now is time to begin
sowing seed.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.
