to Misiones 5 Manantiales
Dear Prayer Partners,
Thank you for your continued and faithful support. It is a real
blessing to know that so many people are praying for us and for the
ministry. This has been an extremely hot and dry summer, the drought
is worse this year than it has ever been, at least since we have been
in this area. Many of the ranchers on both sides of the river are
having to sell off all their cattle because of the severe drought.
One of my rancher friends had several of his cows die in the field
before he could get them to market.
Since our last letter, things have not improved in Mexico, in fact I
would say they have gotten worse, much worse. The violence continues
to grow and the spill over violence into the border cities is a
reality. I praise God that we have not yet been directly affected,
and I pray that God will continue to keep us safe. It was a blessing
this Summer to have two mission groups come and stay with us. One
group ministered in Eagle Pass and the other group ministered in Nava,
Coahuila at Iglesia Bautista San Pablo (Saint Paul Baptist Church).
More than a year ago, our church in Eagle Pass licensed a man into the
ministry and since that time he has faithfully served the church. He
has preached, taught Sunday school, led Bible studies, made hospital
visits and proved himself in the ministry. This past Sunday we
ordained Tom into the ministry and look forward to his continued
service with the church.
D'Ann's Bible study with the ladies is continuing to do very well.
The ladies are growing spiritually, maturing in the Lord, and living
out their faith as good examples in the community. Our men's Bible
study is also doing well, and God is calling out more men who can lead
and teach in the church. It is amazing to see the great discipleship
that God is able to accomplish in those who are willing to submit
themselves to the word of God. Pray for these men and women and they
continue to grow and be a witness in the community. Pray for their
testimony, as they share the hope of Jesus and pray they will be able
to led others to Christ.
This Summer we also had an opportunity to assist the Baptist Church in
Batesville. They have a parsonage that has been in disrepair for some
time and decided to fix it up and use it to start a Spanish-speaking
mission church. Some other churches in the area helped them obtain
and install hotel style wall-unit air-conditioners in several of the
rooms. I was able to install two sub-main breaker boxes, install the
conduit, and run the wiring to get at least two of the air-
conditioners running for them. They plan to start holding Spanish
services next month. Lord willing we will be able to finish the
wiring on the last two air-conditioners this fall. Please be in
prayer for this mission work.
Thank you all for your faithful prayers.
