Subject: Media download disorder
Hope your Thanksgiving was pleasant.
As much as I appreciate the rich library of free media the institute provides, it has reached the point where it is almost impossible to find what to download. It is a mess on both the web site and iTunes. There are books with many dozens of files that appear in no discernible order. I'm looking at the "Murray Rothbard" files in iTunes right now, and the first on screen, arranged by Collection, is 20th Century Economic History. The file order is 6, 71, 96, 107, 124, 133, 141, 196. That's it, no more. Apparently there are at least 196 tracks of 20th Century Economic History and 188 are nowhere to be found. The same disorder exists with the other titles.
If the web site were better organized this would be a minor issue, but it is not. There is a long stream of files on the web site, not in useful order. In the case of the longer books it might take hours to download and piece them together in the right order. I think this is simple to resolve by organizing in the conventional way: go to author and find a list of titles, click on the preferred title and find the files in order. For that matter it should be possible to download an entire book in one zip file rather than dozens of discrete files. It is a shame that access to these incredibly valuable materials is impeded by disordered distribution, but it could fairly readily be corrected.
Best,
Nicolas Martin
