Here's a recent request for Murray Rothbard's essay, "Justice and Property Rights."

This piece was published as a chapter in Egalitarianism as a Revolt Against Nature.

We have the book online in PDF:

It would be great to have this whole book in HTML or ePub.

Anyone interested?

Would it be possible to find and upload Murray Rothbard's essay, "Justice and Property Rights"? It was featured in the book, "Property in a Humane Economy" compiled by the IHS and edited by Sam Blumenfeld in 1974.

It doesn't seem to be online anywhere in any form, and it seems like just the thing that would make a great Weekend Read or something.

Thanks in advance,
Tennyson

I'll take a shot at it.

Thank you! You'll see the results of your effort over and over again in the Mises Daily this year.

I uploaded the files to http://groups.google.com/group/mises-documents/web/rothbard-egalitarianism.zip .  File contains the html, prc, and mobi formats.  I'm not an expert at any of this so let me know if I'm not following standards or protocol.  Feel free to modify it as you see fit.

Thanks, Dave. This gets us closer to the goal, but we're not quite there yet. Judging from the HTML file, I think you've left the footnotes where they were in the PDF, interrupting sentences and paragraphs wherever the page break happened to land in the print layout.

This won't "reflow" properly in ebook readers. What we need, in addition to the logical hierarchy that you've already done for the chapters, is to have the footnotes moved either to the end of each chapter or to the end of the book entirely. Ideally, they'd also be linked.

When I'm doing this stuff manually, I use Microsoft Word to make the footnotes into Word footnotes, which will then export in a useful way for HTML (although I have to use scripts to strip out all the unnecessary HTML that Word generates).

(If anyone has better tools to suggest, please chime in!)

Please let me know if you'd be willing to continue with this project. We're pretty close, although this last step is often the most annoying. Sorry about that.

I can move them to the end of each chapter probably by tomorrow.  I'm not sure if I can figure out how to link to them by then.  Not sure if you have a deadline.

Thanks. There is no deadline.

You can view source for this Mises Daily to see a typical footnote/endnote:

.

-footnotes are no longer inline, they follow each chapter.
-footnote hyperlinks are active.

I'm not an html expert so the formatting is not the best. Any
comments appreciated.
