to miserece

So I got myself an SSD drive in the hope of removing the cracking. MMM has been installed on there (version 2018) along with the 3rd party vsts. Problem is I can't seem to change the vita instruments path. I've tried the custom install, but even that won't give me the option of changing it. Soundpool I can change, but not the instruments. Any advice?

For the past few generations (starting in Music Maker 2013), MAGIX music programs have been using a centralised, shared location for the storage of various content components (mainly the software instruments and soundpools that come with the software or are now installed via the in-app store in Music Maker). This would be the default path for that location, containing the various sub folders for soundpools, synths etc.:

This default location can be modified via the custom installation option when installing a MAGIX program making use of that location, like Music Maker. However, here's the catch: This being a centralised, global location, it can only be changed when installing the first piece of MAGIX software that is using it on your system. After that, it's set in stone. When you run subsequent MAGIX software installations, you can still access the customised installation screen in the installer, and maybe change other relevant program folders, but you won't be able to change the location for this particular shared folder.

If you really need to relocate this to a different location/drive, you'd need to uninstall all relevant MAGIX programs, and uninstall *all* of the content managed in that location via the "MAGIX Content and Soundpools" option in Windows' list of installation applications, until eventually that entry completely appears from the list. Now, if you perform a fresh Music Maker or Samplitude Music Studio installation again, you should find that you can, once again, customise the location of this global "Common" folder in the advanced installation options. Future instrument and soundpool installations through the in-app store (current Music Makers) or program installers & content downloaders (old Music Makers, Samplitude/Music Studio, ACID) will then be using the location of your choice. (MAGIX video editing and slideshow programs are now also starting to adopt this concept.)

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: When you say you successfully changed the location for the soundpool installation, I think that's probably a misunderstanding. I assume you're referring to the "Soundpool" folder in the "Folders" tab of Music Maker's program settings. However, this folder setting only tell the Song Maker where to look for soundpools. (Unfortunately, this is not documented and explained very well.) It neither tells the "Loops" manager where to look for soundpools (which is driven via a database that you can add to via a function under the "Loops" tab), nor does it tell the in-app store where to install future soundpool downloads. This can only be affected via the settings for the MAGIX "Common" content folder explained above.

I have acquired:
Magix Music maker including all contents and features
Magix Music Maker-Feel Good Sound Pool
Score-Modern Fairy tales Sound Pool with commercial license
Music Maker Live Pads and Live Sets that contains 30 Live sets for commercial use

Did I understand it correctly that I may use the music loop resources to produce personally created content for commercial use such as monetized YouTube videos? (Yes/No) Thanks in advance for your answer.

But even if you have a commercial license you can get copyright claims on YouTube because somebody else used the same loops. In this case you need to inform YouTube about your commercial license and that you have the right to use the loops in your video. The claim should be removed after this.

My initial query can be summarized in two things
1. Commercial use of included sound pool and additional purchased soundpool.
2. Commercial use of the contents from Live Pads and live sets feature.

No problem. You're welcome. Glad to hear I could help. Sure, you're welcome to re-post the information. I think, generally speaking, the experienced users in the community should be fairly well informed when it comes to the licensing terms for regular soundpools and the need to purchase commercial add-on licenses etc.

Soundpools: It sounds like you may have some misconceptions as to the (included) soundpools. Starting in version 17 of the MAGIX Soundpool DVD collections and audio content bundled with the Music Maker product line, the use of the provided audio content is limited to private and non-commcerical use. The same applies to soundpools purchased through the in-app store via edition credits starting in generation 2017 of Music Maker. The public presentation of the songs is still possible as long as it's non-commercial (e.g. YouTube without using any monetisation on your channel). However, for commercial productions you will need to obtain a suitable license for the content in question via Producer Planet (www.producerplanet.com). You can use the browsing and search functions here to locate the licenses for the specific soundpool style(s) and volume(s) that you have used from the styles included with your Music Maker version or on your Soundpool DVD collection, and clear them for commercial use.

A more recent addition is the possibility to already opt for the commercial version of the soundpool license in the in-app store system of Music Maker when you first purchase the soundpool. If you already know ahead of time that your use of the content is going to be of commercial nature, you probably always want to go with the commercial option in the first place.

Please note that these restrictions and licensing requirements only apply to using the soundpool/loop content provided with our program. If you use Music Maker purely as a DAW to compose/record your own original material, there are no such limitations and no need for additional licensing. This includes the use of the provided VST/software instruments (when used to play back your own compositions).

All music in the Demo Projects are not my personally created work therefore I can not use these to be an integral part of my videos for commercial use.
The sound pool and demo projects contain sound loops that are included in Magix
Music Maker Free therefore allowing commercial use license indicated under sections 1.1, 1.3, 3.2, and 3.3. to make my personally created work and use it to be an integral part of my videos for commercial use.

Score-Modern Fairytale Sound Pool is an additional content that allows me to have commercial license
indicated under sections 1.4 and indicated in my Producer Planet Account.
to make my personally created work and use it to be an integral part of my videos
for commercial use.

Music Maker Live Pads and Live Sets that contains 30 Live sets is an additional
feature that allows me to have commercial license indicated under sections 1.2 and 3.2 of EULA by clicking the link in the About Magix Music Maker and
indicated under sections 5.2 of EULA by clicking the link to make my personally created work and use it to be an integral part of my videos for commercial use.

MAGIX likes to sell sound packages that they proclaim as "license-free and royalty free content for non-commercial use only" (e.g -tools/s/magix-soundpool-dvd-collection-20/compare/magix-video-slideshow-sound-archive-8/ ). Sometimes they offer products that they advertise as "completely license and royalty free" but if you inquire they still tell you they are for non-commercial use only. I would have thought that prohibiting commercial use inherently requires a license, and that "license-free" inherently meant that the content could be used commercially. Is my assumption incorrect?

If it's license free, that means you can do exactly what copyright law allows, and nothing else. Which in practice means not much. If you want to use these sounds on your non-commercial website for example, then you need a license that allows you use your non-commercial website.

Now their website might contain a promise that they will never, ever sue you for copyright infringement for non-commercial use, and that they will never ask you for royalties for such use, and that might be enough in court to stop them from getting any damages for copyright infringement.

I just purchased the Music Maker Premium and confused on the Soundpool and Loops usage and licenses. I want to use this software/daw to make songs and due to some of the automated methods in the software, I will need to purchase a commercial, royalty free license for the pool or loops. I go to the producer planet website and I see where you can buy the royalty free license on things, but, when using the music maker, how do I know exactly what one I am supposed to buy? On the soundpool specifically, it does not show a commercial license version. Then on your terms, it says there is an "unlimted" license that can be purchased, but I cannot find the link anywhere.

There is an Loops Unlimited subscription, which let's you download all Magix Soundpool loops but you cannot use them commercially. But it's a cheap option to subscribe for one month (be sure to cancel soon enough or it will be renewed for another month), and test out all Soundpools and see what you like.

Another cheap way is to check out Humble Bundle or Fanatical for regular loop bundles. They have multiple sales each year where you can get dozens of loop packs for commercial usage, usually by Producer Loops or W.A. Productions.

Music Maker itself won't show whether loops have a commercial or non-commercial license. It's only a formality. You'll get a receipt after buying commercial loops. That's it. The non-commercial and commercial loops are identical.

Some users like myself like to use samples from different Soundpool versions as in genres to create a song or instrumental, so in that case you could not mix Soundpool samples from commercial and non commercial versions to create your own piece to distribute.
