I simply want to unload all the unwanted plug-ins from my scene. I am using Redshift for rendering and lighting of my scene but what i am seeing is that VRay and Arnold are also loaded in my scene which slows down the loading of the overall scene every time i open the file. So i went in the plug-in manager to unload Vray and Arnold. But it says-

But i couldn't find any of these options there in my scene. So how can i remove these unwanted settings from my scene and use only Redshift settings instead. Also if you can explain where/how these VRay and Arnold nodes are being used.

What happens if you disable the View>dagObjectsOnly option? Can you find those now? If you can't seem to delete those, then you most likely need to unload the VRay and MtoA plugins and disable Auto-load, restart Maya.

I am not too familiar with Arnold, and I don't know VRay at all. Let's think what can it be: engine specific shaders/utilities (Arnold: most of the nodes that begin with ai*), render settings, probably some renderengine-unique nodes. Usually you can get a hint by opening it's AttributeEditor

I have played around with it and it seems ok, producing good images quicker than if u were using normal vray plugin.. but i noticed the SR(Solidrocks) makes the image brighter, and there is less settings.. which gets me a little worried if i can't control certain things..

so what i'm trying to ask is, is have u used SR and would u use it over Vray, and how do u deal with settings, eg if u wanna change the image sampling , would u change that in the normal vray rollout then render using SR?

I use SR with VRay, and SR do make the images (and also colors) brighter because when you launch the script, it automatically switches the current project to Linear Workflow (Gamma 2.2), though this can be disabled. I find SR to be OK for production (provided you use the proper presets), and it makes me save a lot of time for previewing scenes without me having to tweak every quality-related parameter.

For changing settings, you can either modify them directly in SR, or disable SR override (i.e. lights' shadow sampling rate at rendering time) and then set your values in MAX. Anyway, I find this plugin to be really useful, and I'd recommand it, especially for VRay beginners ^^

I concur. I have SR and tried to implement it midstream on an animation project. Probably not the best thing to do since it overrided all my settings and ended up giving me terrible results. Lesson learned I suppose. But in all sincerity, if you are a pro at Vray, then this plugin offers little to no value other than presets. If you go outside of the presets then what, if you don't know Vray?

But if you don't know what solidrocks is adjusting, then all of your material tweaks will be affected by shoddy render settings. You can spend 20 hours on the best material, but if you don't have the right render settings it will still look awful.

VRayPluginNodeTex allows you to create a texture from V-Ray Standalone texture plugin that comes with the V-Ray installation. This gives you access to a lot of handy plugins used by V-Ray and is particularly useful when rendering with V-Ray Cloud. All VRayPluginNodeTex textures work with V-Ray Cloud.

Since V-Ray 6 all unsupported plugins for VRayPluginNodeMtl and VRayPluginNodeTex have been hidden from the UI. However, scenes saved with earlier V-Ray versions load such plugins, and on scene opening a message pops up indicating that the scene contains such materials which are not working accurately.

You need to modify the plugin and add the newer options yourself. It will probably be addressed in future versions of Deadline.
Look around line 137 of /scripts/Submission/VraySpawnerSubmission.py. This is where the options are defined.
When you set the correct version in the dropdown, it should work, unless there are some other differences in 3ds max versions.

ScriptSpot is a diverse online community of artists and developers who come together to find and share scripts that empower their creativity with 3ds Max. Our users come from all parts of the world and work in everything from visual effects to gaming, architecture, students or hobbyists.

I have lots of 3dsmax models that I would like to use as vray proxy. I'm getting tired to merge those objects one by one to my scene and convert them as vray proxy. I would like to merge them as ready vray proxy with all the properties and materials from the original objects.

By the way, pixamoon has a kind of script that automatically saves file into your latest 3dsmax version and automatically relink asset of those files without opening them one by one. I hope someone knows how to convert 3dsmax file into vray proxies without the need to open them or merge them one by one to convert into proxies.

Drop and relink is quite good but still you ought to convert and save the objects as new proxies and you'll be doing it again comes another project. But it would be best if those files can already be converted or saved as vray proxies by batch just like the library track relink. So that when you merge them into the scene, they are already a max file with vray proxy. I look forward seeing your new script dealing with this matter. Cheers! :-)

This script rocks. It's so much of a time saver that it's hard to believe how I could work without it until now. Definitely buying it and recommend everyone that works daily with vray to do the same.

This is an awesome program definitely worth the money. Within 30 seconds it turned my horrible lighting scene into a photo-real scene with vray. Customer service is amazingly fast at responding to customers. Everyone should own this program. Its going to be a great learning tool.

I had a problem with the new license server in a previous build. If you can uninstall the new 4.5.1 license server and reinstall the earlier version 4.4.1, it should work. I'm avoiding updating the license server until I hear its working correctly from AutoDesSys.

I'm having the same problem with the license server application. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, have tried the 4.5.1 and the 4.4.1 versions and nothing works. It does not connect to the license server. I'm on Mac OS X Sierra (10.12.6) and it also appears that the vrol.bin process is calling out constantly to connect with no result and each time it does it throws up a dialog box to allow/disallow via the firewall every 10 seconds or so. Highly irritating. I uninstalled the Vray license server entirely. Not sure what is up with this build, but everything was fine up until now. Was loving Vray up until now. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

There was an issue with an earlier version of the beta installer that could leave some permissions set wrong on OS X. There is a folder in your home directory called /.ChaosGroup. Its a hidden folder (hence the dot at the beginning). This folder may now have the wrong permissions assigned to it.

UPDATE on license server issue.

Did FormZ permissions issue suggestion, still no joy . The install that comes with the latest download is still problematic (see ASONE post above).

Tried borrowing the offline license. Mistake as I thought that might work, but you still need to get to the V-Ray localhost to do implement.

Searched through ChaosGroup forum. Found a potential correction and did the following:

deleted files in: /Users/"username"/.ChaosGroup
reinstalled the V-Ray OLS version 4.4.1.ADV via ChaosGroup website. And re-activated the license. This appeared to work to connect to the V-Ray OLS, but now there are two "workstations" listed in my.chaosgroup.com license portal: the old activation with the the borrowed license, and a workstation that is the newly activated license. (I think this is actually the same license) But since the old workstation (which I can no longer access via the OLS since it's been reinstalled on the same computer) has an offline borrowed license, it appears I cannot use the license on the new workstation. *facepalm*. I suppose I would suggest not using an offline license unless all is going 100% smooth.

I have an email to ChaosGroup support, but they have been spoken about as unreceptive with respect to support. Crossing fingers that won't be the case.

Note this dialogue still shows in FormZ even though I can connect to the V-Ray OLS now:
