reading over what you've written and adding more.
or, if you're lucky, finding lotsa stuff to take out.
rearranging the chronology.
making it flow better.
though, more often than not, it was good enough as it was.
or is that vice versa?
you keep forgetting.
in any case, at some point you stop tweaking.
