before Hillary made the move, all the talking heads said that her
position would cost her the general election because 75% of Americans
opposed giving drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.
but you never hear them take Obama to task for it.
why not?
instead, they go on and on with about how Obama still has a good
chance to win the nomination.
why?

Could be that the media thinks Obama is a light weight and would
rather have the Republican candidate go up against him rather than
Hillary. The Republicans do not have anyone strong enough to take
Hillary on once the election machine gets moving.

The polls I've seen -- they may be wrong, of course -- suggest that
Clinton is actually the weakest of the three Democratic candidates in
the general election, and Edwards the strongest. I don't think you can
make too much of these things, but the Republicans have smeared Mrs.
Clinton to the point where some people think she's Satan. (Not that
they can actually point to what she's supposed to have done, of
course.) On the plus side, since they've already smeared her, maybe
the won't be able to do more. And she is tough, the Clinton machine is
tough. I don't know if Obama and Edwards have the cojones to take on
the GOP smear machine.
And Giuliani is a powerhouse. He's already well on his way to setting
the conventional wisdom on its ear -- that Republicans won't elect a
candidate who doesn't embrace the agenda of the religious right.

off, didn't even buy TV ads, although Giuliani has apparently made
