kathie has has nobly conducted the mwv t-shirt contest through the
dangerous Straits of Logo, and passed the baton to me (town drunk and
erstwhile part-time lady of the night (back in the good old days when
we still had the sweet shoppe and house o' pleasure)) to carry the
artwork phase to its logical (if you'll allow some exaggeration)
conclusion.
(brief aside to newcomers: if this is the first you've heard about a
contest, email me at ent...@nmia.com and i'll explain)
ray dittmeier has generously offered to do all the hard part of the
implementation of our meta-shirts, once we have settled upon the
particulars. so all we need now is...taDA...the art!
these are the logos for which we need art designs:
Shirt #1:
misc.writing
Not what we're looking for right now,
but keep trying.
Shirt #2
FRONT:
Kate's Bar & Grille
In the Writer's Block
At the intersection of Hope and Despair
Downtown misc.writingville
BACK:
misc.writingville - a Shared Delusion Since 1994
if you are an artist, think you *should* have been an artist, want to
pretend to be an artist, or just want to offer up an idea to be
implemented by any of the above, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE enter this
contest. the more entries we get, the less redundant i'll feel.
ah, finally, the RULES:
1. enter as many times as you wish, and for as many shirts as you
wish
2. email me (ent...@nmia.com) your entry in any of the following
formats:
- jpeg
- gif
- ascii (you know those pictures people make with letters n stuff)
- anything i didn't think of that i can read with a 486/33
OR
- on paper (to be scanned) mailed to the following address:
Anna Halbert
PO Box 6071
Albuquerque, NM 87197-6071
(please mark the envelope "MWV art")
if you enter on paper, please also email me to let me know it's
coming.
3. know this: if you email me a file, and you don't hear from me, i
didn't get it (my email reliability is of a questionable nature). send
it more times until you hear from me. i'll respond to every entry i
receive.
4. entry deadline is midnight MDT april 28 (16 days from this
posting), to allow time for ideas to fester. i will hold off on
posting if i hear from you by then that you've already snailmailed me
one.
subsequent to that date, i will post all the artwork at an url to be
announced at that time. i realize that this method may shut out some
of you without browsers, but i can't think of anything better. i will
post a message with a brief description of each piece to misc.writing
as well.
final useful info for designers and future purchasers:
ray dittmeier has access to all the more popular colors and a few of
the less popular ones. he can also get 100% cotton, 50/50, long
sleeve, and sweats. other novelty items exist, but there would have to
be huge interest (and greater expense) before it would make sense to
pursue that avenue.
the shirts can be as many colors as are desired, but there is a small
charge for each color, so keep that in mind when designing.
i'll post details of the costs associated with each piece at the time
of voting to confuse everyone a bit.
having written this endless message, i feel confident that i have
forgotten at least two critical items, but i won't know what they are
until i post it, so there's no point in waiting. (also, it's a
well-known truism that one can't proof one's own work, so be kind <g>)
happy drawing!

Anna, I can't draw, but I have an idea for those who may know how to
draw:
:|Shirt #2
:|FRONT:
:| Kate's Bar & Grille
:| In the Writer's Block
:| At the intersection of Hope and Despair
:| Downtown misc.writingville
:|BACK:
:| misc.writingville - a Shared Delusion Since 1994
FRONT:
Picture of crossed bar of chocolate and the front grille of an old car
(cadilac preferred for Jack Mingo).
BACK TOP:
Picture of the closed front door to the "Bar & Grill" with a sign in
the window which reads "Procrastinating in Times New Roman".
BACK BOTTOM:
Picture of two bright new pennies.
And there you have my $0.02
"Scalagadoola, Menchakaboola, Bibbidie, Bobbidie, Boo.
Put them together and what have you got? Bobbidie, Bobbidie,
BOO!"
