Where can I find guidance on getting it published? Any books
recommended?
Thanking you in advance,

Assuming that you don't really think it's fairly awful..... The usual reference
books (here in the UK, The Writer's & Artist's Yearbook/The Writer's Handbook)
contain addresses of publishers and their areas of activity. Look in a bookshop
to identify smaller travel title publishers - you'll need to do it this way
round because some small travel publishers are not active elsewhere in the
industry. Some publishers specialise in particular areas of the world.
There are imprints of larger publishing houses which specialize in travel but
they normally commission from tried and tested authors they've used before.
There is often a specific format they want to use, and each publisher has their
own ideas about what should be in and what shouldn't be. Also, if a publisher
has an existing book in print on the area you've covered they may be
contracturally bound not to publish a book that competes.
I've written and contributed to a number of travel books, and I'd never dream
of writing one without a specific commission.
I suggest that once you have your list of travel publishers, and HAVE READ
ENOUGH TRAVEL BOOKS to know that yours fits, you contact the publishers by
letter, outlining your book proposal and your credentials as an author and wait
to see if one bites. If you've written about a part of the world that isn't
already over-exposed, have other writing credits, or can demonstrate the
ability to deliver good copy and pics to deadline, they may give you a chance.
What part of the world are we talking about?
