things that make me want to be a better person

too numerous to list.

but witnessing people who honestly find fault in themselves far more
than they do so in others certainly ranks right up there.

rare as that is.

For me, it's plumbing problems...they make me wish I was better at
fixing things.

The toilet handle broke, so I went to Lowe's and got a new one. Then
it would flush, but it wouldn't stop flushing, so I went back and got
a flapper valve. Then when I was turning the water back on, something
made a horrible noise and the shower handle fell off and broke. So I
went back to the store a third time and got a new handle.

I didn't replace anything else, not because it didn't need it, but
because I wasn't sure I could reassemble things after taking them
apart.

I'm not allowed to be any better than I am. I don't have a license for
it.

Find a good exorcist, your bathroom appears to be demonized.

I cheat, I use a digital camera to note where the freakin' pieces
belong. That's saved my butt many a time.

I speak loosely. I tend to strip threads, break things by forcing them
apart or together, or drop small parts in inaccessible places. I do
better with software than hardware; all the tiny little bits stay put
until you decide what to do with them.

really, there's a definite technique involved and even a moron such as
myself can learn it.
