crisp fluffy clouds

...

a couple months ago i got a new pair of glasses after over ten years
of blurry vision.

it was back in the mid nineties when my last pair broke at the movie
theatre.

the lenses were round and the frames were thin.

during a boring scene i had tried to clean them on my t-shirt and they
popped out for the last time.

the frame had broken beyond reasonable repair.

anyway, like i said, until recently, i'd been living in a blur.

...

the sky is so beautiful.

especially around here because of the great assortment of clouds we
get.

i think it's the Great Lakes effect or something.

particularly wonderful are the hours right before sunset.

and then all of those stars.

wow.

sometimes i pull over to the side of the road just to get a better
view.

to better see all of those crispy fluffy clouds roaming against the
wild blue yonder.

sometimes i leave the music playing and i get out of the car to
thoroughly marvel at all of the beauty.

then i take my glasses off and look around again.

yikes.

Why did you wait so long?
And how can clouds be crispy and fluffy at the same time?

all along the numerous roundish fluffs the whiteness of the clouds
contrasts sharply with the blue sky and/or the sunset-lit orange/
reddish/whateverish cloud streaks behind the fluffy clouds.

also, sometimes parts of the clouds are a darker gray wherever they
have a heavier saturation of water.

i'm guessing -- i'm not a meteorologist.

...

when i was a teenager i spent a fortune taking pictures of the clouds.

You have to look at them from both sides.

Driving from Wellesley up to Maine when I was little, my family stopped
at an "Italian" restaurant just off the highway. On the walls were
paintings of sad clowns and these incredible, mind-boggling crisp
fluffy clouds. I spent that summer trying to recreate those clouds with
my junior paint set (acrylics). We've got at least one of the paintings
(plain white blobs on obvious sky-blue sky) and soon I'll get to show
Maya how the *trying* is really the best part even if you never make it
there.
