a president who plays basketball instead of golf

in politics, due to the realities of existence, symbolism often trumps
substance.

eh.

sometimes you take what you can get.

and so it is with great joy that i celebrate a president who wears
sneakers instead of golf shoes.

...

the two games differ greatly.

the only thing they have in common is that both use balls.

and holes, of a sort.

but compare a golf ball to a basketball.

one is hard and small and the other you can dribble.

one gets whacked with a club and the other gets passed around.

one gets carried by a caddy along with many extras and the other needs
lots of air.

etc..

and the actual physical action of the participants is much different,
too.

golfers get driven around in a silly cart with a roof to shield them
from the sun, touring 18 holes which are spread out over several
square miles of otherwise useful land (even if it was untouched, and
unmanicured).

playing basketball involves constant running and jumping (and
teamwork) in a relatively small rectangle with nothing but an optional
headband to deal with the sun.

...

yes, the two games differ greatly.

even when you're playing one on one.

so, yeah.

give me a basketball president any day.

Golf -- gives you lots of time and plenty of privacy to make deals.

Basketball -- You can't solicit graft when short of breath.
