(A police Officer sits behind the front desk, shuffling some papers. A petite Inuit woman, ALEXANDRA ILA, mid-twenties is waiting patiently in front of the desk.)
COP:
(Pushing a few papers towards her)
Okay, young lady, sign these papers and then you can go.
ALEXANDRA ILA:
(shuffles through the papers and scribbles on the last page)
Thank God! I can finally go home. You know, It felt weird, with me being the smallest one here.
C:
Yeah, well…
AI:
Plus, I had to wear those pinchy handcuffs a lot…
(rubs her wrists for emphasis)
C:
(Sneering)
So, it’s over, huh?
AI:
(Chuckling)
Yeah… See ya, Officer! Hee hee!
(As Alexandra turns around to leave, the cop suddenly stands up, leans over the desk, and grabs Alexandra’s arm.)
C:
Not so fast, young lady!!
(As he pulls her back)
AI
Aaah, my arm! Ow! Let go!
C:
Aren’t you forgetting something, Miss Alexandra Ila? You were sentenced to six days in jail. To be served on the weekends!
AI:
(Chuckling nervously)
Oh, yeah.. heh, heh! I knew that!
C:
You have one more weekend to go! The rest of the week, you are on probation. During that time…
AI:
Uh… Yeah! I’ll stay out of trouble!
C:
Yes! Just don’t you forget it, ‘weekend inmate’.
AI:
Okay, okay! Can I go now?
C:
(Releasing his grip on her arm)
Yes, you can go now. See you in a week!
