Hi,

I posted the other day about having to buy 2,500 sheets of US letter size
paper @ £35.25. I've had two replies. If one more person (or two) wants to
buy 500 sheets I can order it otherwise I'm stuck with 1,500 sheets. I only
need 1,000 max.

C'mon UK folk, think American...that's where the big bucks are. You know
you need the paper...

Thanks.

Who needs paper when you have telephones and email? Besides, actually
meeting people is worth far more than what amounts to pissing into the wind.
Nobody in America will talk to you without an agent and what's the point of
sending a hundreds of letters to American agents when there are plenty that
are a lot closer, in London, that won't care what kind of paper you send
them.

I'm sure that American agents wastepaper baskets are overflowing with
letters, posted from all four corners of the globe.

I can understand the fascination with Hollywood, god, I'd give my right arm
to work on a big movie or a tv show but I really think people should aim a
bit closer to home. There's plenty of work to be had in the UK(or Ireland)
no matter where you live, in Film, TV, Radio, Adverts even. It will get you
into the flow of meeting people and pitching ideas and developing yourself
as a writer before you go off to collect your Oscar for Best Original
Screenplay or collect that check for a zillion bucks.

Check out the BBC talent site, www.bbc.co.uk/talent . It offers a real
chance to work within the TV industry for a year. It's the first time there
has ever been such a recruitment drive for absolutely anybody. I think it's
a great idea. They're just looking for talent, I don't think there are any
conditions except for, maybe, if you already work for the BBC.

Or find out what your local Film Council are doing, get on to their
register, meet people, put yourself about. There are groups of film makers
meeting all over the place and if they aren't in your area, then organise
something yourself. You can always conquer America next year.

I'm sorry, Falco, I'm not doing very much to help you sell your surplus
paper.

Seems a bit steep though. You can always nick it from the office when you
get a job.

Anyway, good luck. I mean it. I hope you are the one who proves me wrong and
sells their very first screenplay for millions and millions and posts here
in a year saying, nyah-nyah nyah.

I will then eat my own shit. =8Źo

That's a joke by the way.

I would of course tip my hat and raise a glass in your general direction.
