Unless Halderman grossly alters the script (which would make it
unappealing to most of the producers) he CAN'T! I'm pretty sure
Letterman's lawyer took good care of that. When you get yer ass in
Court or prison, your crimes (whether white or … BLONDE) don’t pay.
Remember the BLONDE teacher who wasn’t allowed to show her ass in
Playboy?

plead Guilty and urged the cops to offer a light punishment.
If this was going to proceed, Halderman's lawyers would have deposed
Letterman under oath and he'd have to come up with the name of every
woman he had sex with since he started the show.
To escape that, Letterman's lawyers asked the cops to give Halderman
an offer he'd accept . . .

Depositions are for civil cases. This was a criminal case. The
defendant would not have the right to ask Letterman such questions.
In this situation, the defendant was smart to cop a plea, otherwise
he'd be looking at serious hard time. Extortion is extortion.
In the real world, criminals usually have a very hard time finding a
job after they get out of jail, especially in the field they screwed
up. That is, an bank embezzler won't be working for another bank.
But in the Hollywood world, this guy will probably get a new job as a
producer somewhere else.
