Allen Weinstein, Archivist of the US, and James H. Billington,
Librarian of Congress, announced today that the National Archives and
Records Administration (NARA) has become a founding partner in the
World Digital Library (WDL). The World Digital Library will be a free
web site featuring multilingual, primary source materials from cultural
institutions around the world. NARA will contribute digital versions of
important US documents such as the Declaration of Independence and US
Constitution, naturalization and immigration papers of important
persons and other documents to WDL which will be launched in 2009 to
the international public. All of the images that
NARA gave to WDL are now available at
www.archives.gov/research/arc/topics/world-digital-library .
